• “Living” Mine Plans
• Reclamation as they are Mining
• Machines Communicating Peer to Peer
Mining Background
• Old mining vs. Todays new mining process – Today federally permitted, fully engineered – best practices,
mandatory environmental, air and water impact mitigations, public input
– Old way - Bring in equipment and start working-no environmental control
– Regulations came after operations began • Always playing catch up
• Greenfield Mining opportunities U.S.A – Produce safe working conditions for miners
– Produce safe environmental impacts for local communities
– Positive Economic impacts for communities
– United States can lead the world in environmental mining stewardship
MEET THE MACHINES
Did You Know?
• 793F 260 ton class truck – Production takes 6-12 month depending on market conditions
– Takes 5 loads per truck to assemble including tires
– Takes 7 working days and 350 man hours to assemble
– A typical Caterpillar truck will be rebuilt 1 time every 4-5 years and total rebuild at 20 years
– Has all the comforts of today’s modern vehicles
– 3,734 of 793 models built worldwide; 240+ in Arizona alone
• Tinaja Hills Training Center Tourism Impact, 2013 – 5,087 visitors
– 15,889 days of visits, estimated at $4.5M+
Machine Order Process
• No equipment built today
• Orders pending final ROD and mine permits
• Rosemont ordered the best available technology – Emissions
– Noise
– Dust Control
• Empire will deliver best available technology
• Caterpillar produces equipment with the best possible emissions and most integrated safety and technology available
