QS Methodology Notes:

The QS 26 subject-level ranks released in June-July 2011 are based on three third party data sources:1.Academic Reputation - The 2010 Academic survey results2.Employer Reputation - The 2010 Employer survey resutls3.Citations per Paper - Citation data sourced from Scopus

Weightings for each metric depend on the subject discipline. For example, the weighting for English is: Academic Survey - 90%Employer Survey - 10%Citations - 0%Where as the weighting for Computer Science is:Academic Survey - 40%Employer Survey - 30%Citations - 30%

See link for specifc weighting per discipline:http://iu.qs.com/projects-and-services/subject-tables/

"Weightings are not applied evenly between indicators for dif ferent disciplines, but will be set relative to the pertinence of the indicator to the discipline and the depth of data available to evaluate it. The chart below provides a schematic of current proposed weightings by indicator for each discipline (to be conf irmed). Weightings are based on publications patterns and level of employer interest in the given subject area – all subjects have attracted solid academic response levels. Subjects have been grouped into seven clearly identif iable permutations".
