Assalamu’alaikum wr.wb.

Rekan-rekan karyawan,

Dear Employees,

During the last few months, we have faced so many challenges in the form ofdemonstrations related to share divestiture that quite drained our energy andthought. However, there are some pretty good stories among our thoughttension. The stories are related to a number of key objectives of our businessplan.

Firstly, we received a 5-year permit extension for our deep sea tailingsplacement process approved and signed by the Minister of the Environment. This permit does contain some criteria and parameters that are different tothe 2007 permit, but we are confident with this permit we can continue tooperate our business at optimum levels.Secondly, on Friday (6/5), there was a formal signing between the IndonesianGovernment, represented by PIP (Investment Agency) and PTNNT, for the final7% shares required to be divested as per our CoW. This means that PTNNThas now completed all of its obligations to the Indonesian Government relatedto divesture.

And thirdly, PTNNT and the Sumbawa regency government signed the MoU for resumption of exploration activity at Elang andother locations on Wednesday (11/5). Following the signing, we will resume exploration activity and work on a schedule tohave drilling underway at Elang in Q3 this year.

All of these great outcomes are the direct result of your hard work, dedication, and persistent effort. The External Relations,EnvSuara Batu Hijau accepts any stories, articles, photos and cartoons from employees. Editors have the right to edit articlescontributedironment, Finance, Tax and Legal departments all had key roles to play, however every employee or contractorwho contributed to our industry leading environmental performance over the past 4 years has also played a key role, buildingthe foundation of operational excellence that the Environmental Ministry and others recognize. We thank each of you forthat.

However, big challenges are awaiting us ahead. But, be sure that we will continue to operate Batu Hijau according to allprevailing Indonesian laws and regulations, with our focus on safe and efficient production, environmental excellence andsocial responsibility. We intend to grow our business through active and aggressive progression of the mill expansion and theElang opportunity.

Pancor Kopong receives clean water facility assistance

The people of Pancor Kopong BaratHamlet, Masbagik Utara BaruVillage,East Lombok can now

breathe freely. This was because they nowcan consume the clean water that theyused to see running way below theirkampong.

PTNNT, using CSR fund, constructed apipeline, hydrant pipe and a reservoir thatworth Rp100 million. The clean waterfacility can supply 1.5 liters per second to215 families of the hamlet that is locatedabout 500 meters from the spring.

Ali Sadikin, PTNNT Community Develop-ment Special Project Manager officiallyhanded over the assistance to Khairul IhsanAMd, Masbagik Utara Baru Village Chief (8/4). The handover marked the completion ofthe assistance construction work.

He described that staying close to a springdoes not always mean having abundantwater. The proof is that Pancor KopongBarat Hamlet for years could only see otherregions enjoy the freshness of the springcoming from their hamlet. “We can under-stand that as the location of Pancor KopongHamlet is higher than the spring that is inan adjacent location,” said Marzuki, acommunity figure of the hamlet.

The total population of East Lombok regency is equal to that of the six regencies and cities on the island of Sumba-

wa. Therefore, social issues in the region arerelatively more complex than those in otherregions in NTB.

Some of the main issues that the region isfacing as described by the Regent H SukimanAzmy are limited facilities and road infra-

structure, electrical power and clean waternetwork.

In view of this, PTNNT recently providedassistance in the form of vehicles, including 2clean water trucks, 3 garbage trucks, 1 minibus and 4 motorcycles totaling of Rp1.8billion.

"We shall be grateful to God about this, because while in someregions many people failed in their harvest due to natural disaster,we even get a great deal of yield," said Drs. Jereweh Sub-district Head Ahmad Yani, SH MM mentioned thatthe farmers' success in applying the SRI program was inseparablefrom the guidance that PTNNT provided in cooperation with theregional government. "We expect that the production increase canimprove the farmers' income," he stated.

Jereweh Sub-district currently has 900 hectares of rice field.Around 500 people relied on farming. About 120 of them are underPTNNT guidance and apply SRI system on 49.3 hectares of rice

Beru village harvests 8.16 tons of rice per hectarefield.

PTNNT Capacity Building Supervisor Abdul Wahid stated that theSRI system has been proven to increase the farmers' rice productionsuccessfully so that it is advisable that the farmers apply it. "Whenthe harvest yield increases, farmers' income will increase too. Withincreased income, prosperity will be realized.
