Introduction Integration of Studywiz with Microsoft SharePoint provides the following functionality:

• single sign on access to Studywiz through SharePoint

• presentation of Studywiz content through a SharePoint portal, including:

• Discussion Threads

• Bookmarks

• Calendar events (current day)

• latest Mail

• latest eBulletins

• latest Assignments

• navigating Studywiz Class and Group “sites” from within Sharepoint

• creating and annotating links to Studywiz activities in SharePoint

• using links in Sharepoint to access Studywiz activities

• importing Studywiz activities into SharePoint

• browsing SharePoint document repositories from within Studywiz

• searching SharePoint document repositories from within Studywiz

• assigning SharePoint activities to students.

The terms ‘Activity’ and ‘Resource’ both appear in the interface and in this guide. They are used interchangeably and both refer to Studywiz Learning Resources. Terminology will be updated with the next release of the software.



Getting Started Log in to SharePoint 1. Enter the URL of your SharePoint home page and press the Enter key. The Sign In page appears.

2. Type your user name and password and click the Sign In button. The Sharepoint site appears and

displays the page you were on last time you logged in. If you have not logged in before, the Home page appears.

3. Click the Studywiz tab. The Studywiz page appears.

Your Studywiz tab may have a different name – in the screenshot above it is ‘Studywiz Test Site’.



Once you have logged in to SharePoint, you can simply click through to linked Studywiz Activities without having to log in again.

Click the links in the main panel or in the right hand panel to access Studywiz content. Studywiz will open in a new window or tab.

Links in the Links to Resources section open in the SharePoint window.

Log out of SharePoint 1. In the top-right corner of the page, click the Welcome <username> drop-down menu.

2. From the drop-down menu, select Sign Out. You are signed out from SharePoint and the Sign In

page appears.

If you have a Studywiz window open, you will remain logged in to Studywiz.



Access Studywiz Content from SharePoint Studywiz content is presented within a SharePoint ‘site’. The site appears on a tab in SharePoint.

The Studywiz SharePoint site contains two panels:

Main Panel The main panel displays the latest Activities from Studywiz and makes them easily accessible. This panel lists, for all your Classes and Groups:

• Latest Activities

• Assignments

• eBulletins

• Discussion Threads.

Each set of Studywiz content is displayed with the latest Activities at the top of the list.

Right Panel This panel has:

• a link to the Studywiz home page

• a list of your Studywiz Classes

• a list of your Studywiz Groups



• events scheduled for today on your Studywiz Calendar

• your latest messages in Studywiz

• your latest bookmarked Studywiz Activities

• links to Studywiz Activities

• Activity Import.

Within each section, the latest content it displayed at the top of the list.

Open a Studywiz Activity In the main panel on the SharePoint Studywiz tab, you can easily access the latest Activities, Assignments, eBulletins and Discussion Threads. Follow the steps in the procedure below.

1. Log in to SharePoint.

2. Locate the Activity you want to open.

3. Click the Activity title. A new browser window or tab opens, you are automatically logged into Studywiz, and the Activity appears.

If you already have a Studywiz window or tab open, the Activity will open in that window or tab.

4. Work in Studywiz to complete the Activity.

When you have finished, you can simply close the Studywiz browser window or tab, or leave it open and continue to work in Studywiz.



Open a Studywiz Class or Group Page Class and Group pages are easily accessible from within SharePoint with a single click. Once you have opened the Class or Group page, you can easily access Class content, including Information pages, Progress reports and Folders and Activities.

Follow this procedure to open a Studywiz Class or Group page from within SharePoint.


2. In the right panel, click a Class or Group name. The Class or Group page opens in a new browser

window or tab.

You now have access to the Class or Group just as if you had logged in directly through Studywiz.

When you have finished working with the Class or Group, you can simply close the Studywiz browser window or tab, or leave it open and continue to work in Studywiz.



Today’s Events The Today’s Event section displays a list of the current day’s events from your Studywiz Calendar. Follow this procedure to open an event from the list.


2. Locate an event in the right-hand panel, under the Today’s Events heading.

3. Click the Event title. The event opens in Studywiz.


Latest Mail The Latest Mail section displays your four latest Studywiz messages. Follow this procedure to open a message from the list.




2. In the Latest Mail list, click a Subject. The message opens in Studywiz.


Bookmarks The Latest Bookmarks section displays your latest four bookmarked Studywiz Activities. Follow this procedure to open a bookmarked Activity from the list.


2. In the Latest Bookmarks list, click the name of a bookmarked Activity. The Activity opens in

Studywiz.

You can now participate in the Activity just as if you had logged in directly through Studywiz.




Resource Links Resource Links allow you to create links directly to Studywiz Activities. These links will open the Activity directly in the active window, instead of opening a new window or tab.

Add a new Resource Link 1. Log in to SharePoint.

2. At the bottom of the Links to Resources section, click Add. The SWResources: New Item page appears.

3. If you know the name of the Activity to which you want to link, continue from step 4 below. If you

need to search for an Activity, follow the steps below:

a. Click the Browse button . The Studywiz Resource Search dialog box appears.

b. In the Name field, type some words that are in the name of the Activity you want to find.

c. Click the button. Search results appear in the field below.



d. Locate the Activity you want to link to and make a note of its name.

e. Click the OK button. The dialog box closes.

4. In the Resource field, type the name or part of the name of the Activity to which you want to link.

The text entered must be unique. If there are two or more Activities that contain the text you entered, the message: ‘No exact match was found for…’ will appear.

5. Click the Check Names button .

If the system successfully finds an Activity, the Activity name and a unique identifier number appear.

6. Click the OK button. The Resource is added to the Links to Resources list and the Studywiz

SharePoint page appears.

Edit a Resource Link 1. Log in to SharePoint.

2. In the Links to Resources list, roll the mouse pointer over the name of an Activity. A drop-down arrow appears.

3. Click the arrow. A drop-down list appears.



4. Select Edit Resource Link. The SWResources panel appears.

5. Edit the Resource Link as required.

6. Click the OK button. The Studywiz SharePoint page appears.

Delete a Resource Link Follow this procedure to delete a link to a Studywiz Resource. Deleting a link does not delete the Resource itself from Studywiz.

1. In the Links to Resources list, roll the mouse pointer over the name of an Activity. A drop-down arrow appears.

2. Click the arrow. A drop-down list appears.



3. Select Delete Resource Link. A dialog box appears with the question ‘Are you sure you want to

delete this item?.

4. Click the OK button. The link to the Resource is deleted.



Import a Resource from Studywiz to SharePoint Follow this procedure to import Resources from Studywiz into the SharePoint Portal.


2. In the Resource Import section, from the Resource Type drop-down list, select a Studywiz

Resource type.

Not all types of Studywiz Resource can be imported into SharePoint.

3. From the Destination drop-down list, select the location in SharePoint where you want the Resource to appear.

4. If you know the name of the Resource which you want to import, continue from step 5. If you need to search for an Activity, follow steps a to e below and then continue from step 5:

a. Click the Browse button . The Studywiz Resource Search dialog box appears.



b. In the Name field, type some words that are in the name of the Activity you want to find.

c. Click the button. Search results appear in the field below.

d. Locate the Activity you want to link to and make a note of its name.

e. Click the OK button. The dialog box closes.

5. In the Resource field, type the name or part of the name of the Activity to which you want to link.

The text entered must be unique. If there are two or more Activities that contain the text you entered, the message: ‘No exact match was found for…’ will appear.

6. Click the Check Names button .

If the system successfully finds an Activity, the Activity name and a unique identifier number appear.

7. Click the Add Resource button. The Resource is imported into SharePoint and is now available at the location you specified in the Destination field.



Access SharePoint Content from within Studywiz SharePoint content can be used in Studywiz in most locations that have access to the Document Repository. SharePoint content can thus be used in the following places:

• Activity Folders

• Blogs

• Class and Group Information pages

• Dynamic Group descriptions

• General Content home page panels

• Messages.

• Personal Content home page panel

• Resources:

• Assessment (Test)

• Assignment

• Discussion

• eBulletin

• Gallery

• Group Writing

• Multi-Media Worksheet

• Repository Reference

• Resource (FastFile, File).

SharePoint items inserted into these locations will appear as links. When a user clicks a link, they will be signed in to SharePoint and the linked item will open.

SharePoint items can be assigned to students by inserting them in specific Class, Group, Team or Individual folders.

Insert a SharePoint Document Repository link into Studywiz Follow this procedure to insert an SharePoint item into Studywiz.

1. In Studywiz, create an Activity or browse to one of the other areas listed above that have access to the Document Repository through the Rich Text Editor.

2. In the Rich Text Editor, click the Repository button . The Insert/Edit Repository Item dialog box appears.



3. Click the Sharepoint button. The Repository>Sharepoint panel appears.

4. In the Keywords field, enter your search terms.

5. Click the Search button. A list of items in SharePoint that meet your search criteria appears.

To view an item before you import it, click either its Type link or its Title link.



6. Locate the item you want to import and click the adjacent Select button . The Repository>Sharepoint>Insert panel appears.

7. Click the Insert button. A link to the SharePoint item is inserted into the Studywiz text field.

8. Save the item in Studywiz.
