CSR & ENERGY & STRATEGIES

To increase a firm’s competitive advantage, CSR projects should be cost effective & produce a clear return on investment.

Types of common modes of governance:

(1) outsource CSR through corporate charitable contributions;

(2) internalize CSR through in-house projects;

(3) use a collaborative model.

When deciding on a mode, managers should consider two attributes:

(1) coordination (autonomous or cooperative);

(2) motivation (incentive intensity or administrative control).

Benchmark4 largest oil and gas companies were selected:

Analysis: Key information on the 4 case companies:

Issues: they all own a large part of the value chain of oil and gas resources; they are involved from extraction to retailing. In addition, the companies have a large petro-chemical activity.

Environment: Out of the 21 environmental (sub-) issues, 10 of the issues are covered by all 4 companies report, 8 issues by 3 companies, 2 issues by 2 companies and 1 issue is covered by only 1 company. waste disposal, energy and water consumption, making it easy to understand the economic benefit of reducing flows and thus the environmental impact. The 4 companies are no strangers to collaboration on environmental issues. There are also joint research projects, where all four companies are participating, i.e. the IEA greenhouse gas R&D programme7. Thus it seems fair to claim that there is a high degree of information sharing between the companies on the environmental issues.

Social: Out of the 14 social (sub-) issues, 6 of the issues are covered by all 4 companies report, 4 issues by 3 companies, 1 issue by 2 companies and 3 issues is covered by only 1 company.

Economic: Out of the 13 economic (sub-) issues, 3 of the issues are covered by all 4 companies report, 3issues by 3 companies, 5 issues by 2 companies and 2 issue is covered by only 1 company.

Table 1: sets out the spread of savings set out by the DTI dependent on the fuel used in UK. The wind figures are deducted from the fuel-based cases to arrive at the saving.

CO2 Emission

Flare Gas Recovery System Important sources of Greenhouse gases These sources are produce a lot of CO2 & NOX.. BPC plant is persuaded as pioneer of projects related to reduce the Air Contaminations Emission specific by Flaring in PSEEZ.

In this project, by Establishing of Tail gases Sweetening process unit, we are able to stop emission of more than 380 ton of gases specific Co2 and also more than 22 ton of SO2 gas per day.. In contrary, with this project, we could be able to take income from Market of sweet gases. So, for approach to this situation we could be able to be win in our market.. By use of Liquid Redox and new method by Shell-PAQUES/THOPAQ we can able to sweetening the Tail Gases that now send to the Flare.. The New method is more economic and about 2.5-5 times operation cost estimation lower than Liquid Redox.
