    LOOKING BACK

You Believe What? The God Hypothesis

It is the ultimate of issues. Does God exist or not? The weighty implications of this matter make it a hard one with which to deal. I hope you make plans to attend the Equip Event with Greg Koukl May 1-2. It will help you immensely in discussing your faith with othersand to enjoy it! Thinking It Through (agree/disagree/consider/contemplate)

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who endowed us with sense, reason,

and intellect had intended for us to forgo their use.

    ~Galileo

No philosophical theory which I have yet come across is a radical improvement on the

words of Genesis, that 'In the beginning God made Heaven and Earth'.

    ~C.S. Lewis

    The most valued attributes of mankind do not come naturally to the human animal;

    character borrows from the divine.

    ~A.S.A. Jones

    Working It Out

    1. Why do you think many people look straight into the face of reality and deny it? In other words, what are some of the implications of believing or not believing? (See Romans 1:20ff)

    2. Which of the arguments regarding the existence of God mentioned in the message

    were effective in your opinion?

    3. How is your faith being affected by this series so far?

    4. What are you hoping to do with what you are learning?

  • LOOKING AHEAD

You Believe What? Truth Be Told?

What is truth and where can you find it? There may be no more important questions in this life For the Christian, its widely believed that truth can be found in the BIBLE. But lets be honest, can a book written thousands of years ago really be reliable? And even if it is reliable as a document, can we really believe that these ancient writings impact the way we live? Our answers to those questions are crucial. The whole of our beliefs (and our very salvation) hang in the balance.

    1. How does the God Hypothesis impact ones beliefs about the Bible?

    2. Do you think most Christians know how to defend the reliability of the Bible? Why or why not?

    3. What do you think it means that the Bible is believed to be inspired by God?

    4. Our beliefs about the nature of Scripture are foundational to Christianity. Do you agree

or disagree? Why or why not?
