housingENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSESCF offers language courses as an integral part of your academic degree program. We accept students at all English fluency levels and have courses to assist you with improving your English language skills in order to be successful in college-level courses. CF advisors will work with you to ensure that you are taking the courses appropriate for your level and receive the education you need in order to be successful.

You will take a placement exam upon arrival at CF in order to determine your English and math skill level. Based on the results of the placement test, students who are not ready for college-level courses will be placed in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or other preparatory courses. CF accepts TOEFL (61), IELTS (5.5) and STEP/EIKEN(2A) test scores, but they are not required. If you have the following scores, you will not be required to take the English portion of the placement test, but you will take the math sections. CF’s EAP program offers two levels of instruction in three skill areas: reading, writing and grammar, and speech and listening.
