Study in Genesis:Through HIM School of Ministry:

This Certificate Program of Through Him School of Ministry is designed to help the student to develop an overview of the Book of Genesis. It will also introduce the relevant and important parts of the foundation of the world, the ground work for the Jewish Nation, and the coming of Christ. The outline/study is developed to assist the student in understanding the basic principles of the Word of God from the beginning. The following study allows the student and teacher to interact and discuss the material or it can be completed in an individual setting.

Student will read through the book of Genesis, and answer/discuss the question as they read. The only required text for this course is the Bible. Outlines and notes for this material comes from several different source.

Genesis is divided into 5 divisions:

1) Creation (Genesis 1:1 - 2:25) 2) The fall and redemption (Genesis 3:1-4; 3:7). 3) The Diverse Seeds, Cain and Seth, to the Flood (Genesis 4:8 - 7:24). 4) The Flood to Babel (Genesis 8:1 - 11:9). 5) From the call of Abram to the death of Joseph (Genesis 11:10 - 50:26)

Genesis is the title given to the first book of Moses by its Greek translators. The word Genesis means "origin" or "beginning.” Genesis truly is a book of origins, and beginnings. Genesis describes the beginning of man and the universe in which he lives, has been given dominion over, the beginning of sin, the beginning of God's plan of redemption, and the beginning of the Hebrew nation through whom God's redemption, through the Messiah, was to come.

The book of Genesis, together with the first few chapters of Exodus, describes the events which led to the God's establishment of His theocracy with the people of Israel.

There are two main themes in this book: People of God Promised Land

Genesis has a clear message which is both special to Israel and universal to all mankind. It embraces all of mankind in every nation as it speaks of God as the Lord of all men in the whole human race. Yet, the Book of Genesis is also an introduction to Jewish history and it makes the universal interest less important to the special message about the Jewish people. The design of Genesis is to show how God first revealed himself to the patriarchs of the Hebrew race in order to make of them a people who would serve as his witnesses to the rest of the world. He led Abraham to the Promised Land which happened to be located in the exact center of the ancient world. These two essential points are the inner principles of unity which persist throughout the entire book.

Now the real work begins as we study the Book of Beginnings and the foundation truths of God word. Please keep in mind this is not an exhaustive study of Genesis; it is a foundational study with the goal of developing a basic understanding and a desire for a more in-depth study as God allows you?

In your individual study of the Book of Genesis read the related verses and answer the question, or as a group discuss the questions. The objective of the course is to

help you develop an understanding of this awesome book.
