AU allocates positions with partner universities
You can receive Erasmus grant or BSS Travel grant
No tuition fees apply
FREE MOVER:
You arrange contact with host institution on your own
No Erasmus grant or BSS Travel grant, but maybe udlandsstipendium (check with SU)
In most cases you need to pay tuition fees

Global Management and Manufacturing (GMM): 6th or 7th sem.
Business Development Engineer (BDE): 7th and/or 8th sem.
MSc in Marketing and Business Innovation: 3rd sem.

DO YOU QUALIFY?
You must be a full time student at AU
You must be an active student
You must be able to transfer 30 ECTS per semester from your study abroad (cancellation of summer university courses and electives in case you have too many ECTS)
You must fulfil specific requirements for the partner universities you apply for
You must fulfil specific requirements for you BTECH study programme – check your academic regulations:
Choose courses at the right level (e.g. no 1st year courses, no overlap to previously taught courses, master courses for master students, etc.)
Mandatory courses must be substituted
MSc in Engineering students – only 10 ECTS within traditional areas of social sciences, predominantly business administration is allowed!

APPLICATION - DOCUMENTATION
Remember to attach documentation (as one single pdf file) alongside online application!
A complete course selection form (available from your study portal) for each of your priorities
Master’s degree students holding a Bachelor’s degree from another university must submit their Bachelor’s diploma. If the diploma is from a foreign university, an explanation of the grading scale used in the country in questions must be enclosed
Joint Application form – if relevant
Language test, if one or more of your priorities have a requirement for this, but only if you have already taken a language test

You must complete a Course Selection Form for each of your priorities.

This is NOT an application for pre-approval of courses!
Do not submit course descriptions.
It is just to make sure that you only apply to institutions that offer relevant courses within your study programme.
Make sure you can obtain 30 ECTS
Students who can find already pre-approved courses for their study programme in AU GO are welcome to list these courses in the form.
Finding the right academic programme and relevant courses is your own responsibility!

JOINT APPLICATION / ALLOCATION
You and your fellow applicant must both submit the individual online application, and tick box for joint application
Submit the exact same list of priorities in your individual online application
Complete, sign and upload the document ”Joint Allocation” in each of your individual online applications
Be aware that you will be allocated positions according to the applicant with the lowest GPA!

ALLOCATION CRITERIA
Criteria of allocation for exchange positions:
GPA
Master – GPA from bachelor diploma (weighted average)
Bachelor – GPA from bachelor grades at the time of allocation (weighted average)
Specific requirements listed in AU GO (e.g. GPA and language requirements by host university)
Seniority of study (University Wide Agreements)
Distribution across study programmes (University Wide Agreements)
Once allocated a position, you cannot change it!

APPLICATION RESPONSE
Application confirmation:
You will receive an electronically generated confirmation by email when submitting your online application. This confirmation contains a copy of your application
Position offer:
You will receive an offer of exchange position in January
Cancellation:
Let us know immediately, if you for some reason do not want the position after all

2ND ALLOCATION
2nd allocation round with remaining positions: Early February 2017 for students who applied in the 1st application round but were not allocated a study abroad position
All eligible students will receive information directly about 2nd allocation
Available positions in 2nd allocation are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. You must show up in person

AFTER ALLOCATION
You will be invited to an after allocation meeting in February
Your AU coordinator will nominate you to your host university
You will receive application information from your host university or AU coordinator – read it carefully and observe deadlines!
Take language test if required by host university
You apply to host university yourself. Application deadlines vary, depending on destination
Your apply for pre-approval of courses to your study board through https://mit.au.dk/. If the course offer is not available until shortly before your departure, your pre-approval of courses must be based on courses from the year before. Attach excemption document (available from your study portal) if you wish to be excepted from 5-10 ECTS will abroad (not possible for university wide agreement). Ask your international coordinator

APPLICATION TO HOST UNIVERSITY
Documentation attachments to your application for host university:
Language proficiency proof if required
Application – paper or online
Other specific requirements – e.g. recommendation letters, bank statements, health statement, insurance documentation etc.
Please note that AU cannot guarantee your acceptance at the host university. The host university is entitled to singlehandedly decide which students to admit

FREE MOVER
You may choose to go abroad as a free mover if you prefer a non-AU partner institution
You will need to apply on your own directly to the host institution – start early!
You will in most cases have to pay tuition fee
We recommend that you register as free mover in the AU GO database during the application round. Just choose free mover as your first priority in the electronic application
Please register as a free mover in the AU GO database before 1 December, if possible
After 1 December, please bring a copy of your admission letter from the host institution to international coordinator, Lena Tarpgaard Møller, in room 2112 or send a copy by email to [email protected]

FREE MOVER
If you register as free mover in the AU GO database, you will automatically receive invitations to relevant meetings and receive emails concerning other information regarding your study abroad
If you prefer going abroad as an exchange student, but want to go as a free mover in case you cannot be allocated a position, just choose free mover as your last priority in the electronic application
You will need a pre-approval of courses from your study board (apply through https://mit.au.dk/)
It is a condition that the study period abroad is fully credited in your AU study programme

Make sure you have enough funds to study abroad as there will be costs in connection with a study abroad, e.g.
travel expenses
insurance
visa
administrative fees
higher living costs, etc.
You have a big influence on cost size – e.g. when choosing destination and living costs

AU partner institutions in Europe
No tuition fee
You will automatically be considered for an Erasmus+ or Nordplus grant of approx. 150-250 Euros per month depending on the country you are going to
Conditions:
fill in a Learning Agreement
take an online language test before and after your study abroad period
Fill in an evaluation of your study abroad when you come home
You will still receive your SU if you are eligible for that (Danish students)

No tuition fee
You may apply for a BSS Travel Grant (Fakultetsstipendium) upon returning to AU (DKK 1,000 per transferred ECTS past 20 ECTS. I.e. DKK 5,000 for 25 ECTS or DKK 10,000 for 30 ECTS) – check your study portal for details and application form
You will still receive your SU if you are eligible for that (Danish students)

Free mover
You will have to pay tuition fee at the host institution
You can apply for the Study Abroad Scholarship (Udlandsstipendium) to help you cover tuition fee, if you are eligible to receive SU.
The amount depends on the field of study
You must provide documentation that you have paid tuition fee, how much you have paid and what the tuition fee covers
Contact SU if you have questions
You will still receive your SU if you are eligible for that (Danish students)

Internship/placement
Erasmus+ placement grant if you take an internship in one of the 32 countries participating in the Erasmus programme
Your internship must be approved by your study board or study coordinator as part of your AU study programme
As a rule you should receive at least 15-20 ECTS per semester
The length of your stay should be between 2-12 months
The internship cannot take place in European Union institutions, other EU bodies including specialized agencies, organisations managing EU programmes
The grant is approx. Euro 300 per month

WHAT TO DO WHILE ABROAD
Get your Learning Agreement signed (European partners only)
Follow classes
Take exams
Check AU blackboard for information concerning your AU study programme – especially information on your bachelor project / master thesis etc. relevant for the next semester
Apply for an exception in case the academic calendar of your host university does not allow you to start writing your master thesis at the scheduled time
More information will follow at the after allocation meeting in February

WHAT TO DO WHEN COMING HOME
Apply for credit transfer
Bring your pre-approval of courses and transcript of records from the host university to your study secretary
Hand in Erasmus+ documentation (students who studied at European partners)
Hand in signed Learning Agreement
Take the online language
Fill in an evaluation of your study abroad
Answer questionnaire in AU GO concerning your study abroad
Contact your AU coordinator in case you failed an exam abroad and wish to take a reexam from home – if possible
