You may qualify for credits but can only do so by taking your training through an approved

centre. Check with your faculty office for details.

THE PADI OPEN WATER DIVER The PADI Open Water Diver qualification is

the most recognised diving certification in the World. As a qualified diver you can dive with a diver of similar, or higher qualification,

whenever you want to. It is your ticket to a lifetime of adventure underwater and the starting block to a huge and diverse range of further diving qualifications and experiences.

COURSE OVERVIEW At Triton Scuba our PADI Open Water courses are conducted over 2 weekends and a new course starts almost every weekend so you can choose a date to suit you. Learning to dive through a club system can take months, but at Triton Scuba we are flexible on dates,

so if you miss a day through no fault of your own, you can always join another course. The course is broken down into a number of modules that make learning easy and fun. Before you come on the course you need to do a bit of home study, but we provide you

with manuals, your own DVD’s and computer based learning packs that contain all the

information you need to understand the

theory of diving. You study when it suits you

meaning you won’t have to sit through a se-ries of dreary lectures. Your training will be conducted at our award winning, PADI 5 Star

Centre in Southsea. During the first weekend we will cover the theory side of life and all the pool work; essential before we take you into open water. We will confirm what you have learnt and fill in any gaps in your knowledge

in the classroom then it’s time to get wet. Over the first two days you will spend six

hours in the pool getting to grips with the equipment and techniques used in diving. Once the pool work has been completed and you have passed an easy multiple choice ex-am, you are fully prepared for the last 2 days of the course, where, in full diving equipment

that is now familiar to you, you will complete your course by undertaking four open water dives. These will be either from our boat, or at an inland lake depending on the weather conditions. That’s all there is to it; you’re ready to go diving and the start of an adven-ture of a lifetime.
