STUDENT VOLUNTEERS ABROAD
Who are we?
Student Volunteers Abroad is a student-run charity based at the University of Glasgow. Since 1998, we have been sending volunteers to work on summer projects across the developing world for the relief of poverty.
This summer we have projects in Uganda, Kenya, Indonesia and Malawi!
Our Aims:SVA as a charity has three main aims in the work that we do:
1. To work with local organisations on sustainable projects for the relief of poverty.
2. To promote awareness and education, among students, of the social and environmental issues that affect the developing world.
3. To promote cultural links and encourage cultural exchange.
Application Process:
Online application form to be completed by the 9/11/15 Choose a first and second choice of project
Selection day the weekend of 21/11/15 Team challenges Cultural Activities Interviews with first and second choice project
coordinators You will hear back from us with the project you
have been selected for by the beginning of December.
How we support you: Weekly group meetings with your coordinators Fundraising training and support Training weekend in March
First aid training Cultural Training Fears and expectations Avoiding Voluntourism
Socials – to help you get to know each other Pre-departure meeting – how we will support you
while you are on project
