Student Reps at UWS .staff and students at UWS. Student reps are our experts on the ground - tuned into what students need! Reps also link the students' association with the university. Reps have three main roles: 1. Gathering opinions and feedback from students 2. Sharing that information in meetings with staff and working together to find solutions. 3. Feeding back the outcome of those meetings to students. Reps also sit on student council - which sets policy direction for the Students' Association, and may also share information with the Students' Association. Reps might even get the opportunity to sit on a school or programme board, to represent classmates at an even higher level. Being a rep develops valuable skills that will really help you when you're looking for a job such as communication, negotiation, and team-working. Not only that, we officially recognise our reps through the Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR). This means that your role as a rep will go on your academic transcript along side your degree results. You can also achieve really great things - other reps have managed to get books added to the library, changes made to the timing of assignments, and changes made to class tests to make sure they are fair for everyone.
