Student Representative Council Overview

The Student Representative Council offers the students of the Al Noori Muslim School an opportunity to

represent their peers in a leadership role. Students in the senior class are eligible for selection as executive

members of the SRC. Executive positions include Captain, Vice-Captain, Secretary, Treasurer and Prefects. Two

class members from every class from K-12 are elected by their peers to represent them at the meetings and to

report back to the class on the decisions that the council members have made.

The SRC are responsible for fundraising for various charities that they select throughout the year, for organising

and holding school events and for raising money and purchasing selected equipment that they feel would benefit

the whole school population.

Guidelines

Members of the SRC students:

Have no behaviour records

are active citizens of the school community and have their ideas and opinions routinely sought and

respected

contribute to and participate in decision-making in their school

have opportunities for participation and leadership which are inclusive of gender, special needs and

cultural backgrounds

are involved in making decisions affecting their lives modelling Australian democratic and

representative practices

are prepared for and supported in their leadership and decision-making roles through all aspects of the

curriculum, in classroom, whole school and out-of-school activities

The skills, values, knowledge and attitudes that students learn from participation in the SRC are vital to their

future role as citizens of a democratic society.
