Attendance- State law requires you to be present in school/class 90% of the time.

When you miss school, you have 3 days to bring a note• Important: Doctor’s Return note does not count against

absence(s) or exemptions. Attendance officer will be notified about students

with 5+ unexcused absences. This could result in a citation and court action.• Going to court could result in a fine of $250-$500 for non-

compliance of compulsory attendance laws Release from school early:

• Bring signed note from parent/guardian to attendance with a valid phone number to verify need to leave early.

Once on campus you may not leave without parent/guardian permission.

You must go to the A.P. office if you have an emergency.

Only parents are allowed to bring food for you. They will check into the front office and leave the food at the attendance office.

All visitors must sign in at the receptionist desk, provide driver’s license and get a picture ID badge (background check).

Unauthorized visitors will be ticketed for trespassing

TARDY SWEEP Must report to tardy sweep.

Periods 1,2,3,6,7 are in the commons and 4th and 5th

periods are the lunch detention table.

Students will be escorted back to class after signing a LDT slip and receiving a pass. Failure to report to tardy sweep will be an unexcused absence and be counted as skipping, which could lead to excessive absences, loss of exemption status, loss of credit and/or discipline consequences.

Saturday Detention

3 Hours on Saturday Morning - 8:30 am to 11:30 am

Students arriving after 8:30 am will NOT be allowed into Saturday Detention.

If you miss Saturday Detention you will be suspended..

exemptions except school related activities (field trips, college days, court appearances, Doctor’s Return, co/extra curricular activities)

Cell Phones/Electronic Devices

• Cell phones and electronic devices- must be off and out of sight during the school day 6:30-2:30 or in any after school instructional setting (clubs, library, and tutorials).

• If phones and electronic devices are on or visible during the instructional day they will be confiscated, a parent will need to pick it up and pay a $15 cash administrative fee.

• Any cell phone found ON during • a search will be confiscated.

• Cy-Ridge High School is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items, including electronic devices.

• Any nuisance item such as the ones listed, but not limited to, shall be confiscated by ANY staff member who sees them.

• Failure to comply with any adult’s reasonable request will result in a suspension at home for failure to comply!

• Hats are to be off an out of sight – if we see them we take them

• We do NOT accept deliveries of flowers, balloons, etc for students

• Students may not carry around flowers, balloons, cakes, stuffed animals, etc. They must be left in the front office.

Any item that has a reference to drugs, weapons or inappropriate inferences of any kind will be confiscated for parent pick up.

Anything deemed by the Administration as disruptive to the learning environment will be addressed.

Passes should be used only for the purpose designated

Students are not to be let out of class the first or last 15 minutes of a period

If a student abuses or misuses a pass, they can be restricted and no longer allowed out of the classroom

Students must not engage in unwanted or unwelcome verbal or physical conduct directed toward another student or District employee.

All students are expected to treat others with courtesy and respect; to avoid any behaviors known or reasonably should be known, to be offensive; and to stop these behaviors when asked or told to stop.

A substantiated complaint against a student will result in appropriate disciplinary action..

PRESCRIPTION DRUG POLICY

• ALL medication (Prescription or over the counter) must be checked in by your parent with the nurse…

• Students may not bring over the counter medication or prescribed medication to school…

• Students are NOT allowed to transport medication- prescription or over-the-counter on their person during the school day.

BUS BEHAVIOR

Riding the bus is a privilege, NOT a right Be at your AM bus stop 5 minutes early – the bus will not wait for you! Bus Conduct- may be removed from the bus if you receive a referral from the

driver Students will NOT be allowed to ride a bus that is not their assigned bus. We do NOT accept notes to ride home with a friend Students will only be allowed to ride a different bus if it is an emergency

situation, and parents must call first for approval Once you have boarded the bus, you will not be allowed to leave the bus for

any reason. Buses will leave daily at 2:40. Once the first bus starts leaving, NO ONE else will be allowed to board any bus.

Get Involved! There are many great things going on everyday on campus!

Listen to announcements for club meetings

You can get a list of clubs and sponsors from the front office

You can even start your own club – see the front office for information

This is a great way to start doing community service and volunteering

• Must be in a supervised area by the 2:50 bell

• At 2:50 the athletic gate is dropped and outside doors are locked

• Any students in the hall at 2:50 are expected to wait at the front to wait for a ride

• After tutorials you must leave the building or report to the front of the building

• No re-entering after you leave the building

• Sponsors are responsible for seeing that their students leave the building or report to a designated supervised activity

• Students/friends on campus without permission will result in trespassing charges.

• Disrespect toward any adult in this building is a level III offense (Teachers, Security officers, Custodians, Visitors etc.)

• Running from an adult is an admission of guilt and will result in suspension (minimum)

• Vandalism/graffiti is serious and could result in a citation, restitution, arrest by law enforcement and possible ALC.

We accept cash only (school wide policy)

Parking illegally or not following guidelines in the handbook may result in your car being towed without warning

Privileges may be revoked and permit pulled for the following reasons:• Attendance issues• Skipping• Unsafe driving• Discipline

No loitering in parking lot and/or sitting in vehicles once you arrive on campus.

Do not tow list- AP office (need tag#)

If car is sold, scrape off old sticker, return remnants to AP office, receive new sticker for new vehicle.

School reserves the right to search any vehicle. Students responsible for any prohibited objects found in their cars and will be subject to disciplinary action
