1 Registration & EnrollmentMyProgrammingLab Registration

In order to get started with MyProgrammingLab, you will need the following:

- MyProgrammingLab Student Access Code

- MyProgrammingLab Course ID, also known as Section Access Code (you receive this from your instructor)

- Valid email address

- School zip code

Go to: myprogramminglab.com and select Student under the Register section.

If you have an Access Code select yes, I have an access code, and then click Next. If you do not have an access and would like to purchase instant access with a credit card or PayPal account, select, No, I need to buy access, and click Next.

- Read the Privacy Policy and License Agreement and click I Accept.

- If you are new to Pearson products, create an account or login with your existing login and password; if you have forgotten your login and password, select Not Sure and type in your email address. If you have a Pearson account, your login and password will be emailed to you

- Type or paste your Student Access Code and click Next.

-Verifyortypeinyouraccountinformation,zipcode,andschoolaffiliation.ClickNext.

-AConfirmation&Summarypagewillappearifregistrationissuccessful.

- Select Login Now to get started with MyProgrammingLab.

Enrolling in your MyProgrammingLab Course

- Navigate to www.myprogramminglab.com and type in your Login and Password and click Log In.ThefirsttimeyouloginintoMyProgrammingLab,youwillbeaskedtoverifyyour information and follow a series of steps to enroll in your instructor’s Course.

- Verify that your account information is correct. Select Next.

NOTE: If your account information is incorrect, go to https://register.pearsoncmg.com/userprofile/ to make changes.

- Enter your Course ID. The Course ID is a string of letter and numbers given to youbyyourprofessorandidentifiesthecorrectsectiontoenrollin.SelectNext.

NOTE: If you do not have a Course ID, select Click here if you do not have a Course ID. This will let you search for your instructor’s Course ID, by identifying sections created at your school. If you do not see your instructor’s Course ID, please contact your instructor.

- Verify that the Course ID matches your instructor’s section and that the information is correct.

- Select Finish.

2 Your CourseNavigating Your Course

Access Your Section

To access your section:

- Go to the MyProgrammingLab website: myprogramminglab.com

- Type in your Login and Password and select Sign In.

You are now presented with the MyProgrammingLab Lab Workspace. The MyProgrammingLab Lab workspace provides all necessary information about your course. You can access all of the features available in your course from the Course Menu located at the top.

The MyProgrammingLab course menu consists of the following tabs:

- Announcements: displays general announcements from Pearson Education and Turingscraft and provides updated information about MyProgrammingLab.

- Help: links to your overall results in your MyProgrammingLab course, as well as access to video tutorials.

- Lab: Assigned and practice exercises

- Preferences: allows you to assign a nickname to your MyProgrammingLab account, or enter your college Student ID. You cannot change your MyProgrammingLab password in preferences. If you need to edit any of your account information, such as your email address and password, go to: https://register.pearsoncmg.com/userprofile/

- Lobby: a list of course(s) you are currently enrolled in

- Exit: Logoff and exit from MyProgrammingLab

3 Lab

Working in the Lab

The student’s Lab is separated into two separate areas: the Table of Contents and the Main Content Area.

The Table of Contents is the gray content menu on the left-hand side of your Lab and contains assigned and practice problems.

Note: Clicking on the plus sign ( )expandsspecificsectionsofyourChaptercontentintheTable of Contents by one section at a time; clicking on the minus sign ( )contractsspecifictopicsinthe Table of Contents by one subcourse at a time. Clicking on the gray arrow ( )expandsspecifictopics in the Table of Contents by revealing all subcourses at a time. You can also change your view by using the drop-down menu above the Table of Contents. By default your view displays the standard view, however, you can choose to display by deadline or exercise number.

- Main Content Area: this is the area to the right of the Table of Contents and contains the Work Area tab.

The Work Area is led by a Problem Statement Area, which presents the exercise to you. In some cases, additional information that may be necessary for the problem or exercise will be added herebyyourinstructor,identifiedasanInstructorNote.TheInteractionAreasitsbelowtheProblem Statement Area and it is where you will type in your submission, or solution.

Note: To quickly identify your results for individual problems and exercises, click on to view the colour distinction between incorrect and correct attempts. Once you have accessed and submitted a solution to an exercise, a colour will assigned to that exercise in the Table of Contents.

Working in the Lab

The Main Content Area also contains the following buttons:

- allows you to view the colour distinctions between your results for problems and exercises that do not have an attempt, are correct or incorrect, are dis-abled or are unavailable

- allows for you to hide completed exercises in the Table of Contents so that you can quickly view those exercises that have not yet been completed.

- allows for you to submit your solution to the highlighted problem or exercise

- allows for your to easily navigate to the previous problem or exercise without using the Table of Contents

- allows for you to quickly advance to the next problem or exercise without using the Table of Contents

- once you have submitted your solution to an exercise, you will have the option to print the exercise.

- submit feedback to the MyProgrammingLab developer on individual problems and exercises.

Assignments

IfyourinstructorhasassignedspecificexercisesinMyProgrammingLab,youcanviewthe accompanying due date, see solution date, freezes on, and shows on dates.

- Expand your Table of Contents by clicking on the double vertical line located to the right of your Table of Contents menu

Due Date: indicates when your assigned exercises are due

See Solution Date: indicates when you can view the solutions for an assignment or exercises, regardless of if you got the answer correct or not

Note: By default, solutions to the exercises in MyProgrammingLab are only shown to you if you have answered the exercises correctly. If your instructor has indicated a see solution date in your Table of Contents, you will be allowed to view that solution on that date, regardless of if you answered the exercise correctly.

Freezes on:indicateswhenyoucannolongeraccessandworkonspecific exercises. You will be able to view the exercise and any work you have submitted up until the freeze date.

Shows on: indicates when you will be able to access and begin working on your exercises.

Note: By default, if you see a icon to the right of your Table of Contents chaptersandexercises,youhaveaccesstothatspecificcontent.

4 Results

There are two ways to view your results in your MyProgrammingLab course. To view an Exercise Summary or a List of Incorrect Submission Counts, navigate to the Help tab in your Course Menu.

Once in the Help tab, you can choose:

- Exercise Summary: provides an exercise list summary that quickly allows for you to view how many exercises you have attempted, not attempted and how many exercises were submitted correctly or incorrectly.

- List of Incorrect Submission Counts: provides a detailed list, by exercise number, of all of your incorrect attempts

To view more detailed exercise results, including feedback, navigate to the Lab tab in your Course Menu. Highlight one of the completed exercises in the Table of Contents on the left-hand side by clicking on it. You can view your submission and the solution. To quickly view if you have completed an exercise, if the exercise is incorrect
