A CLASS MANUAL
FOR
SUCCESS IN SCHOOL
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Come to school prepared each day.
2. Textbooks taken home must be returned each day with your completed homework.
3. Be sure to have a great quiet reading book and any necessary supplies
with you each day.
4. Use the rest room and get drinks before the bell rings.
5. When we walk to the GLC or the computer lab., we need to be quiet so
other classes are not disturbed.
6. Eat snacks at the lunch table area.
7. It is very important to ask questions if you do not understandsomething - there are no dumb questions!
8. The teachers are usually available after school. This is the time
to ask for extra help on anything or to check your grades.
9. You may not be in the halls or return to the room during recess and lunch
without teacher permission.
DURING CLASS
1. Enter the room quietly so others are not disturbed.
2. Do not eat in the classroom unless the teacher gives permission.
No gum allowed.
3. Follow the class expectations.
4. Try to keep yourself organized and the desk clear of any materials you
are not using.
5. Be considerate of your classmates - you are not the only one here.
6. During part of the day, you will be sitting in another student's desk and
another student will be sitting in your desk. Please be as respectful ofothers' belongings as you would like them to be of yours.

ASSIGNMENTS AND DAILY WORK
1. Use a proper heading on all assignments - see example below:

° Page #/Lesson Date 2. Leave a margin on both sides and at the bottom of your page. The holes
are on the left side. Do not tear pages out of binders or spiral notebooks.
3. Fill out the Student Planner for each day and do your very best work.
4. Turn your assignments into the boxes when you are finished unless the
teacher instructs you to do otherwise.
5. Unfinished class papers may be completed at recess or lunch, or on some
occasions taken home for homework.
6. All homework is due the following day unless instructed otherwise.7. We expect all work to be turned in on time; LATE PAPERS (unless absent)
WILL NOT RECEIVE FULL CREDIT
8. LATE WORK will only be accepted for up to 2 weeks after the assignment
was due.
FREE TIME
1. You will have free time when you have carefully finished all of your
work. Be sure to check your work before starting a free time activity.
2. Free time is independent time. Independent activities include: reading,
writing, studying for test, extra credit papers or drawing.
3. Free time must be used in a way that does not distract or disturb
others.
HOMEWORK
1. Assigned homework is always due the next day unless you are told
otherwise.
2. The due dates for long term assignments, such as reports or projects
should be noted so they will be finished on time.3. If there are any special circumstances which cause you to miss an
assignment, a note from your parents is acceptable, and the work will
be treated as an absent assignment.
4. Homework should usually take ~ 45 minutes . If you are spending
more than 1 hour, every night, you need to talk to your teacher about
the work and your use of time.

ILLNESS AND MAKE-UP WORK
1. Please stay home if you are sick. Germs spread quickly in a class.
2. Bring a note for the office when you return to school.
3. See the absent folder for your work. Check with the teacher.
4. Work missed during an absence must be made up as soon as possible
after you return to school. If absent more than 2-3 days, see the
teacher to schedule due dates.
5. In an extended absence of 3 or more days, have your parents call the
office for make-up work and assignments.
6. Label absent work "absent" at the top so it is not confused with
"late" papers.
I understand the items in this manual and will do my best to follow them.
