Students are often encouraged to join some of the societies that theiruniversity offers. But what benefits will joining one give?

Many people are still re-luctant to join a society, and are unaware of the changes that have taken place over the years. There may still be hockey and rowing societies, but less traditional ones such as toast appreciation and pirate societies are among the weird and wonderful societies on offer.

Joining a society is also great for your CV. Employers will know that you are an interesting person, and that you had the motivation to do something other than just your degree while at university.

The social aspect of joining a society is great too - you’ll be meeting many new people with a shared interest and friendships can easily be formed. So what are you waiting for?
