Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Report
Spring 2017
Overview
Prepared by Research, Assessment, and Effectiveness 2
Overview
• The Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Report (SLOAR) is a document prepared on a semester basis that overviews assessment results from assessed course outcomes. All programs/concentrations and certificates are assessed through a five-year schedule of course assessments.
• This report shows students achievement of course outcomes through Tk20’s “PGCC Course Outcome Achievement” report. This means that all data is merged, i.e. if multiple assessment tools were used, the data is combined in a single graph/table. This report includes the measurements from the Tk20 rubrics and the Benchmark multiple-choice exam data (this data was uploaded into Tk20 by the assessment team).
• This report gives broad general information about students’ performance. It is recommended that departments run additional reports. In the case of rubric data, please run Tk20’s “Overall student performance in rubric-based assessments (008*)” report, which presents results from specific rubric-based assessment. In the case of multiple-choice data, please run Datalink’s “Item Analysis” report, which presents detailed information about each question as well as other statistical information (e.g. KR20).
• For more information on how to interpret the data in this report, please refer to the following document which can be found on S:Assessment and MyPGCC: Guidelines –Making Sense Out of the SLOAR Data.
• Please note that in academic year 2016-2017, 70% of usable data will need to be submitted in order to be considered compliant.

Overview
• In Spring 2017, 20 departments participated in the regular course assessment process by collecting data for course and program outcome assessment and/or applying the Rubric for Reassessment to previously assessed courses.
• Data were scheduled to be collected from 22 courses. Data could not be collected for a scheduled course that was cancelled due to low enrollment (MUS-1500). Data could also not be collected for some courses due to other reasons, such as curricular changes or revised assessment plans (HLE-2130, NUR-1040, HSM-2750, and HSM-2760).
• Out of the remaining 17 courses, 17 (100%) engaged in the collection of data and fully complied with the process, i.e. 70% or more usable data was submitted.
• With the start of the new five-year assessment cycle, courses had the opportunity to apply the Rubric for Reassessment to determine whether a course needs to be reassessed. No courses were reassessed this collection period. Twenty courses applied the rubric:
• Courses that applied the rubric for reassessment and results show that the course met benchmarks (no action plan and reassessment needed): HIM-1581, PMD-2030, RST-1741, EGL-1020, MUS-1010, HST-1530, THE-2010, BIO-2060, PAR-1510, PSY-2030, TED-2200, and DVR-0051.
• Courses that applied the rubric for reassessment and results show that the course did not meet benchmarks (action plan and reassessment needed): NTR-1100, NUM-1560, NUR-1030, RAD-2580, CHM-1010, CSM-1450, MAT-2210, HSM-1515.
