Student Information
The staff of Bertie Middle School, along with Mrs. Sandra Hardy and Mr.
Calvin Moore, would like to invite all students to take part in our Club
Activity Day. Many clubs will be offered to broaden your horizons for
future endeavors. We want to make this day an exciting and enriching
experience for all involved. We have offered you 36 clubs to choose from,
which will allow you to make choices. Please choose at least three clubs,
and your clubs should be listed in order of your choice. When you make
your choice, you will need to list your choices on the paper provided for you.
We will do our best to place you in one of those choices.

FBLA is an organization created to benefit students in the business world or
feel they seek careers in the business world. It teaches students how to
conduct meetings using parliamentary procedures. Persons will also be
competing at local, regional statewide and national levels.

This club is made up of games of strategy, critical thinking and problem
solving. Students will play board games focusing on a strategy to capture
the opponents king.

This club will consist of the students and staff that wish to contribute to the production of
the yearbook for Bertie Middle School. This will be the second yearbook for this schooland will include athletics, staff members, different activities that have taken place
throughout the year, etc. We need creative people to create a great product of this school.
Literacy & Technology Book ClubAdvisorP. Baker
Requirements: 7th & 8th Grade
Limit: 10 members
Do you like to play games? How about use an IPod? Are you good atstorytelling? Then, the Literacy & Technology Book Club is for you. We will
be creating gaming experiences using a set of library books and IPods while creating
videos and QR codes. Be ready, because you will be on camera as we explore and
promote literacy in a fun and exciting environment. You will realize reading has neverbeen so enjoyable!

Peer Mediation ClubAdvisorSusan Cox

Peer mediation involves learning how to 1. actively listen to both sides of an issue2. techniques on how to help students in conflict resolve their issues 3. creating an
agreement between the conflicting students on how they will handle issues in the
future. If you are a student who is a good peace maker, good listener, and fair minded
this is the club for you. Learn how to help your friends resolve their conflicts with eachother and/or their teachers. You may even learn a better way of handling your conflicts,
as well.

If you like to sew or create a craft, then this is the club for you. Students will crafting and
creating items to share with others in the community. Some of the items will be used aslearn and serve items to enrich people in our community. This club will be a perfect way

Requirements: 8th Grade
Limit: 20 Members
Students in this club will learn the basic of nail care. They will soak, clean, shape, and
polish nails. The polish will be basic colors and designs. They will also learn to massagepalms to relax nerves in hands. Students will set up their "stations" and enjoy a
manicure.

If you think you love cooking, then the Cooking Club is the place for you. You willenjoy preparing and cooking food with other club members. After preparing a product,

Reading, writing, and understanding magazines can be exciting. Our
magazine club will be discussing magazines of interest for the club. The
literary magazine club will meet to develop a higher level of interest for ourschool. The club will feature a new magazine every few months, and the
club is also guaranteed to peek your interest in literary magazines.

This club is designed to equip young men with the steps needed to advance them to
adulthood. The students will be exposed to researched-based principles that lead to
success. The participants will be challenged to think outside the box and will gain a
wealth of knowledge so that they can learn to cope with outside forces designed todistract them from becoming productive citizens.
Students will be exposed to Steven Coveys leadership principles and Kwanzas steps tounifying people. The student will also develop radio skits and short plays to counteract
violence. Mr. K. B. Urquhart will invite youth leaders and youth agencies within out area
to enhance the participants learning experience.

The Phoenix Pearls will focus on young ladies learning how to conduct themselves as

using special occasion etiquette. Create their own individualized step routine to represent
their sisterhood. Colors will be pink and green.
