– Discretionary funding for UK students– For unexpected financial difficulties or low income– Helps students to participate in higher education– Assistance with living costs – cannot pay fees– Help with childcare costs for undergraduate students
• Financial Assistance Fund– Discretionary funding for international and non-UK EU students– For unexpected financial difficulties– Limited assistance with living costs– Cannot be used to assist with tuition fee payments

– Undergraduates and postgraduates– Full-time or part-time– Must have accessed all other funding before applying to HF
• FAF Eligibility– Undergraduates and postgraduates– Full-time or part-time– Must be able to demonstrate had adequate funding in place– Experiencing unexpected financial difficulties at the time of
application
Struggling to make ends meet?• Application & Assessment Process– Complete an application form and submit all the
relevant supporting documentation– Forms are available from King’s Gate, Level 2
reception or from the Student Wellbeing website: www.ncl.ac.uk/students/wellbeing/finance/funding/
– Non repayable award or repayable loan• but no guarantee of a successful application
– Notified of outcome by email– Payment made by BAC’s transfer
Emergency Funding• Small short-term loan• Help to cover basic living costs• Assist students who have exhausted their
funds or who have a delay in funding• All payments are discretionary• Provide proof of available funds• Contact us by telephone to discuss
circumstances in first instance
