STUDENT SENATE OF CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES - GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Lead. Advocate. Empower.
This November, LA Pierce College was well represented at the General Assembly (GA) of the Student Senate of California
Community Colleges. Lauren Robin served as the LA Pierce College Delegate and ASO Officers and Senators (Amir Haghi,
Janvi Pasrischa, Kareen Cohen-Sadik, Efren Lopez, and Maddie Samayoa), along with Dean Juan Carlos Astorga, were in
attendance. During GA, student governments from California community colleges gathered to discuss their needs and concerns.
The assembly petitions that “pass” in SSCCC’s GA move forward to the next step in the process, and could possibly become
bills/laws in the future. The student leaders described their experience at SSCCC’s GA as very fulfilling and were appreciative
of the opportunity to represent LA Pierce College students and the campus community at the state level.
Petitions that passed during the SSCCC’s GA were: - S02.03-1 Misuse of Student Health Fees - S02.04.06.08-1 Students with Developmental Disabilities - R02.03-2 Non-Credit Student Leadership - R.02-3 Monthly Campus Safety Reports - A.04-1 Safe Space Inclusivity and Enhancement

ASO De-Stress for Finals Event – Thursday, December 8 – Rocky Young Park
ASO Leadership Banquet – Thursday, December 8 – 5pm-7pm – Great Hall
THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION
In November, ASO & the LA Pierce College Diversity Committee
partnered to host a Thanksgiving Celebration for the Pierce
community. International Students Club and ESL Club were both
participants in this educational and inclusive event!
The culture of Thanksgiving was reviewed, in addition to having a
traditional Thanksgiving dinner together. It was a wonderful event to
showcase the commitment to cultural education and diversity at LA
Pierce College!
