abroad or take another gap year. Likewise, I'm so glad I decided to
transfer to Brown -- I've met so many wonderful people who are also

Also Familiar With: The Brown Daily Herald, Brown Language Society, Brown
Market Shares Program, Hispanic Studies Department, economics tutoring,

About Me: I was born in Ecuador but moved to Peru and lived there during my
childhood (hence my love for Peruvian food). After returning to my hometown,
I didn’t move again until I went off to college in my country’s capital, Quito.
Because I transferred from a foreign school and had never been exposed to
the academic environment in the U.S., I was really nervous when I came to
Brown. However, my transition was much smoother than I had
expected, because as the Brown community is really nice and welcoming.
Transferring to this school is and will always be one of the best decisions I’ve
ever made! Feel free to email/Facebook me if I can be of any help or if you
just want to chat!

as Brown has so many clubs and classes to offer that fit with all
types!
About me: I am a Rhode Island native and love this tiny state, where I
would argue that we have the best oceans in the entire United
States! Outside of the classroom, I can usually be found taking
nature pictures, on a walk, or cycling (yes, for exercise!). Please feel

regarding the transfer process or want to chat about anything else.

an avid dog lover, runner and very amateur dancer.
About me: having lived in the same small town in Long Island my whole
life, I am very passionate about exploring the world. I spend my summers
traveling and have worked in Switzerland and studied in Berlin.
Transferring was definitely a part of my desire to explore the world.
Having seen two colleges, I believe that I now have a better
understanding of myself and a really deep appreciation for all the
opportunities that I have been given both in and out of Brown. Now,
well-familiarized with Brown and the transfer process, I am so eager to chat
about Brown, transferring, or just life in general. I love to meet new

UTRAs and research on campus, internships in and around politics

I head the Bear Necessities column. I am a professionally trained drummer and
love classic and modern rock music- let me know if you ever want to jam!
About me: I am a native San Franciscan and chose to come to Providence and
live in the snow (and the cold) for the first time because I fell in love with the
campus and because I wanted to push myself to try something new. In my free
time, I love to travel and have been to 30 U.S. states. I am also an avid hiker
and backpacker and try to spend as much time as I can in the woods of New
Hampshire. During summer 2017, I'll be studying abroad in Grenada, Spain,
and working on my Spanish, so if you ever want to practice your speaking
skills, let me know! I transferred to Brown in Fall 2016 and am very well-versed
in settling in on campus and getting involved in activities right after orientation.
My decision to transfer to Brown was undoubtedly one of the best I have ever
made. From the inspiring and welcoming people to the diverse extracurriculars,
Brown truly has it all, and I could not be happier with my choice to come to
Providence. Please feel free to send me a text, message me through
Facebook, or email me if you have any questions about transferring, want to

About me: This summer I will be working in Denver at Generation Teach as a
middle school English teacher for low-income students. Before coming to Brown,
I took a gap year and moved to the West Coast where I working at a tech startup

anywhere else. In my not-so-free time, I love kitchen dance parties while making
vegan brownies, road tripping with friends, knitting ugly sweaters, and talking

was one of the best experiences I've ever had. If you have any questions
about studying abroad, I would be MORE than happy to talk to you about it
(but be warned once you get me going I may never stop). After over a year

Transferred: Fall 2015
Concentration: Applied Math-Economics
Also Familiar With: research (ICERM), undergraduate TA position, MAPS
mentorship program, SIAM, AWM, WIB, FLAME conference, shopping

transferred with the intent of studying applied mathematics, but I am
fortunate enough to stay another semester to incorporate economics into
my studies as well. I am passionate about utilizing the open curriculum at
Brown, which has allowed me to explore classes outside of my
concentration (like political science for example). I also enjoy music, art
and Greek folk dancing!
About me: As native Rhode Islander, I am more than happy to show you
around outside of College Hill. Having transferred to Brown at the
beginning of my junior year, I am well familiarized with the junior transfer
process, and I am able to answer the unique questions that junior

learn at Brown are endless and it is never too late to try something new.
Please reach out with any questions about transferring or if you just want
to chat about anything at all. Welcome to Brown and congratulations!

Zoe Zacharopoulos Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ
Class: 2019
Previous School: Barrett the Honors College, Arizona State University
Transferred: Sophomore (Spring 2017)
Concentration: Political Science and Modern Culture and Media
Interests: Academically, I am interested in Political Science, Economics,
and Media. I initially started off college as a Psychology Major to study
how the brain interprets social phenomena and how it reacts to political
and media structures, but soon enough I realized that Political Science
and Media were my two main concerns. Outside of the classroom, I am
usually exploring Providence restaurants, watching really bad teen TV
shows on Netflix, or complaining about how I am lactose intolerant. Other
than that, I am probably at the Rock (library) with three sweaters on
because it's cold in there.
About me: Originally from in New York City, my family decided to move
to Greece and then Saudi Arabia. After Saudi, we moved to California
and then Arizona, so I can say that I am pretty much from everywhere.
As you can probably guess by my last name, I am 100% Greek, which is
a good thing because I can introduce everyone to some great food! I
transferred to Brown in the spring of 2017 from Arizona State and I love it
here. Coming from such a big school was a scary transition, but I am so
glad I took the plunge. I cannot wait to welcome everyone to campus and
get to know all about you. Please reach out to me if you have any
questions about coming to Brown, or if you just want to talk!
