The SIUE ITE student chapter has been dedicated to connecting students with
transportation professionals. The SIUE student chapter usually holds two to five
meetings every semesters. Engineers from the industry and state agencies together
with professors from academia were invited to give presentations on transportation
related topics, such as transportation system planning, design, operation and
maintenance. The meetings give students a chance to understand what jobs
transportation engineers work on, while they are still in school. Both graduate and
undergraduate students are members of the student chapter.

ITE STUDENT CHAPTER OBJECTIVES
2
In 2015, the SIUE Student Chapter enjoyed its eighth full calendar year as a part of
ITE since reactivation in September 2007. The Chapter maintained official
recognition from the University as a registered student organization. In addition, new
members were recruited, making it one of the largest Civil Engineering clubs on
campus by enrollment. Professionals from the Illinois Department of Transportation
(IDOT), Missouri Department of Transportation, and numerous firms have been
invited to the chapter meetings.
The SIUE Student Chapter has big plans for the coming year. SIUE’s enthusiasm
for participation will also follow them to the Midwestern ITE Collegiate Traffic
Bowl at the District Conference in the Chicago this summer.

MIDWESTERN ITE TRAFFIC BOWL
In June 2015, three members from our SIUE Institute of Transportation Engineers
(ITE) student chapter attended the Midwestern ITE traffic bowl held in Branson,
Missouri. Our members all got great experiences and made friends from other
universities during this competition. Two ITE members competed in the Regional
Competition. The SIUE ITE Chapter placed 3rd out of 6 teams in the Midwestern
Traffic Bowl sponsored by the Midwestern District. The team members were Antoun
Fadoul and Vedavyas Koppula. The Traffic Bowl is a Jeopardy-style competition
where student teams of up to three answer questions related to transportation
engineering, design, planning, and operations.
