History

The Filipino Martial Arts stems back thousands of years and originates from the Prehistoric Negritos and later the Sri Vishayan and Madjapajit empires who inhabited the Philippines in 200 B.C. Constant tribal conflict influenced the rapid systemisation of the arts. However it was not until the Philippines as a whole was threatened with invasion from Spain that the tribes united their various fighting arts. Such arts over the centuries have developed to such a degree that they are indigenous to the Philippines and comparisons cannot be made with Malay or Indonesia martial arts of which the Filipino martial art and race has origins.


WEKAF Body Protector WEKAF body protector of the design by Grandmaster Dionisio Cañete. Suitable for full contact stick or nunchuka sparring. Hand made in the Philippines, this body protector is far superior to current offerings in the market place, with strong impact foam and velcro fastenings at the back.
