Student Ambassador Sarkís Mena Ponce de León Puebla, Mexico curricular activities and describes his experience as very positive. “I’m playing for the basketball team at the school and I really like the sports. I especially like when we win.” Sarkís is very involved in all types of activities and is taking advantage of everything the Sea to Sky program offers. “Every weekend I go to Whistler to ski with students from both Squamish and Whistler and I love it. It was one of the reasons I came to Sea to Sky. I can’t do this in Mexico so I am really taking advantage of this while I am here.” We also asked Sarkís about his homestay and how he is fitting into his new family in Squamish. He said, “My homestay family is the best of all. They are so nice and friendly and they help me a lot. I think I couldn’t have a better homestay than them. Sarkís Mena Ponce De León from Mexico did a lot of research before choosing his destination for his study abroad experience. He is happy he chose Squamish and Don Ross Secondary. “When I decided to come to study in Canada for one year, I was very nervous, but now I think it was the best decision I have made. I love living in Squamish! It is so close to Whistler and Vancouver and everyone is nice and friendly.” Sarkís is really enjoying his stay in his new community and his life at school. “One of the things I like most about Squamish is my school. I love my classes, the teachers, the students and the sports at Don Ross Secondary. Everything is awesome.” We asked Sarkís what he thought about our school system in British Columbia. He said he is really happy with both the academics and extra Don Ross Secondary 2014 I’m very lucky. Another great thing is that it is my first time living with a dog and this is very cool. I don’t have a dog at home back in Mexico. We asked Sarkís how he is going to feel about his return home at the end of the year. “I am really enjoying my time here and I don’t want to imagine leaving. I will miss everything from here, so I will have to come back to Squamish very soon!” I love my classes, the teachers, the students and the sports at Don Ross Secondary. Everything is awesome.”

I’m  very  lucky.  Another  great  thing  is  that  it  is  my  first  time  living  with  a  dog  and  this  is  very  cool.  I  don’t  have  a  dog  at  home  back  in  Mexico.
