Bull, you look so mean and fierceWith your protruding canines,Stern bowed stance, and pointy ears;Your guttural barks and whinesAre quite intimidating. But - your tail is madly waggingYour dark eyes sparkle playfullyBegging me to rub your belly.

After a long day, I come homeand find her waiting for me.Tail wagging, butt wiggling,Jumping in air for joy.At night her head is on my lapSleeping soundly, dreaming. At peace, in love,My pit bull and me.

Our sad eyes tell the story of judgment, hurt and painWe are overwhelming shelters, just because of our infamous nameSociety tells a story of brutality, out of fearBut those who are closest to us, know only a love so dearOur appearance is made up of muscle, strength and jawBut on the inside we are lovers, with an ever gentle pawSo yes we are called Pit Bulls and proud to have this nameBecause we know that one day, it will be said withoutany shame.

So I see you in a different light, Born to love and bred to fight. We have a lot in common, you and I. We fight for what we believe in, until we die.I am consumed by you, you have become my all out mission. I am going to plead your case untilsomebody listens.I am devoted to you for as long as I last. I will change your future and try to bury your past.I will continue my struggle without pause, you matter to me, a most worthy cause. You are the only good thing I have in my life, I will do what I can to end your strife. In this fight you are never alone, I have your back as I have shown. You have suffered long enough and it needs to end. I am here for you always as I am your friend. You have no safe havens, everyone is full, I will take you in, my little pit bull.

Loving, loyal, strong–all true! Abused, neglected–people have no clueBest kissers and lap warmers–always by your side, vicious attackers–that's just media liesSo many waiting in shelters, always passed by, the numbers are staggering, I just cryMisunderstood pit bull–they deserve the best. They deserve a chance at life!
~ Tracey Thompson
To stop the pain and sadnessOf prejudice, BSL and unfairnessAdopt the StubbyDog missionTo do nothing is a sin of omissionWe must stand up for the pit bull breedAnd as they gently give their pawsWe will educate and pass fair laws Only then will our loving pit bulls be freed.

Some say I'm vicious, and that I'm no goodTo know the real me, try they never wouldMore misunderstood, than any other breedPunished for my look, not my owner's deedAlways leashed and muzzled, when I just want to playSome look at me puzzled, but most get scared awaySo if you get nervous, when you see me run alongKnow the problem isn't us, it's your perception that is wrong

We've been military veterans, nannies to your most beloved, silliest comedians the world has seen andfriend to walk beside you in your darkest hour. Devoting life to loyalty and love and only asking in return a simple belly rub. I will lead you if you cannot see, I will bring you comfort and joy and even a squeaky toy. Some want to destroy me and those like me, they want to gain while causing us pain, inflicting fearwhen really all we want is be a treasured comrade and scratched behind the ear. All we want is a family to adore, to greet with wiggles when they open the door, to give smiles with our charm, and be a rock through any storm. They calls us pit bull I'm not sure exactly what that means, but perhaps you could call us what wewant to be - family.I swear no matter what we've been through, if you could just give us a chance you'll see we'll becomebest friends fast. Please don't let prejudice define me because me and my kind are amazing, devoted, companions andpromise lifelong love, friendship, and loyalty.

People cannot see beyond my reputationI have been branded by the media, aTotal misrepresentation.Because of my breed I am stereotyped.Uneducated individuals who bought intothe hype.Looking to create a canine holocaust.Lots of innocent lives will be lost.

I have fought wars for my country; I havewon medals and accolades. Somewhere along the way, things changed. I started getting abused, forced to fight forhuman greed; I have lost my place alongside my family. I have been banned and murdered. I livein filth. Through it all, I am the same loyal anddevoted dog, I am still an American Pit Bull Terrier. I only look forward to a day when fearsubsides and the truth prevails.

I love every person I meet.I am overjoyed when I see a child.I play hard and sleep very well.I am smart and loyal and full of bliss.I am very forgiving.I am a pit bull.
~ Amanda Lotz
Not so long ago we were held in high regardTaking care of children and playing in our yardsBut now some humans' choices have changed our once good nameThey have used our loyalty for their own fortune and fameSome chained us down and forced us against our willTo fight against each other, or be beaten or killedBut there are those who see us, for who we truly areWho know our plight and see our love, despite society's deep scar
