The Map Is Not The Territory
Exhibition of Stuart Hall HS students at SFO Museum February - March 2013
Thomas Namara - United States Cut-out Map above cover digital design by Sklyer Dayton
Stuart Hall High School honors our interconnected world with the theme: The Map is not the Territory. Students from 9th through 12th grade have created works in 2D media to express their ideas about this topic. In media from digital design to traditional drawing and painting, stu-dents look to areas such as communication, sports, politics and cultural stereotypes as they approach this poetic theme from their unique point of view. Stuart Hall is a single-sex boys school within the co-educational four-school community of Schools of the Sacred Heart San Francisco. Together with Convent of the Sacred Heart High School, the high schools make up the the innovative model known as Hall & Heart, offering cross-registration in some classes as well as co-ed extracurricular activities and sports.
The Schools are rooted in and directed by the goals of Sacred Heart education. Sacred Heart has a worldwide presence through over 200 schools in an international network spanning over 40 countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa. This exhibition offers an ideal opportunity for our students to express their sense of our international relationships. Stuart Hall High School is located on the edge of Pacific Heights and Japantown. Drawing from our rich heritage, the diverse neighborhoods of San Francisco and our international connections, we offer an innova-tive values-based program rich in the arts, math, science and the humanities.
