Preventing Being Struck by Pipe• Don’t rush and be aware of your surroundings

• Follow established procedures

• Don’t be in the line of fire

• Secure pressurized pipes

• Ensure effective communication

• Conduct load calculations to ensure the sheave is right for the job

• Secure the sheave during transport to the elevated attachment point

• Do not stand below equipment being installed or dismantled

• Inspect sheaves for damage or wear on a regular basis

• If something doesn’t feel right stop and investigate

• Ensure good communication and work handoff

• Know the position of all the valves

• Ensure connections are secure

• Inspect the lines on a regular basis for leaks

• Never disconnect a line if you are unsure if it is pressurized

• Stay away from hoses when flow is initiated to avoid the kick
