ALL FUNDS STAY WITHIN THE COMMUNITYYour generous support of our YMCA Annual Campaign makes it possible for us to provide life-enriching opportunities for kids, families, and individuals who need just a little help.

“Sharing the joy” as we say, makes significant differences in the everyday lives of people less fortunate than us.

Please consider making a gift to the YMCA today! Share the joy!

GIVE. AND DO SO MUCH MOREYour gift to the 2014 YMCA Annual Campaign will help us to continue to make a difference in the lives of all of our 188,000 plus members. Your generosity helps people to be a part of the YMCA of Greater Hartford regardless of their ability to pay. The value of that membership is shown by a comment by one of our members:

“I work out at the Y during lunch. It helps me clear my head and reinforces a healthy lifestyle. When I am done working out, I no longer crave cheeseburgers and fries. I know that I am a better person to be around because the Y helps me deal with stress in a positive environment.”

Gifts to the YMCA Annual Campaign make life-changing programs possible. Programs like LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA® which helps cancer survivors feel alive again. LIVESTRONG® is a 12-week, research-based, physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals and move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.

A team of volunteers is hard at work to secure our goal of $230,000. Like you, they have many demands on their time; both personal and professional. But they have seen firsthand the difference the Y makes in a person’s life. So they make time to help us meet our financial goals. Your support, no matter the amount, will help the YMCA of Greater Hartford continue to provide a place for Youth Development, for Healthy Living, and to teach Social Responsibility. For all the people you will help, but may never meet, we say thank you.

2014 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN YMCA OF GREATER HARTFORDCAMPAIGN GOAL$230,000

Yvette was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2011. While she was undergoing treatment at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, she saw a pamphlet for the LIVESTRONG®

at the YMCA® program. 12- weeks of exercise for free! was something she was not willing to pass up.

“I had no motivation to do anything, but once I joined LIVESTRONG®, my energy levels increased greatly from the physical activity. I was inspired to do Zumba® and Bootcamp! A nutritionist came in to speak and that helped me so much with my eating habits,” said Yvette.

“I also enjoyed the inspirational stories we shared in our group. Listening to everyone’s stories helped me to realize that if they could get through this, so could I!”

LIVESTRONG® has had such an impact on Yvette that she continues to stay involved with the program and has made many lifelong friendships.

“My mom, Mary, and cousin, Chandra were all part of Team Yvette. With their help and with the knowledge I gained through the Y, I am now able to Live Strong!”
