2019 has been a year of continued growth and capacity building across all our core value activities with a focus on our mission: to increase the collective impact of organizations working to end gun violence in Chicago. By building relationships with the people and organizations on the frontlines of gun violence, Strides for Peace works to address gaps in funding and harness the power of collaboration. EMPOWER We seek to empower organizations working to stop gun violence by creating new opportunities to bring people and resources together to support their work. n Invest $105,275 to support our community partners in areas where traditional funding is unavailable Strides’ investments ensure opportunities to increase impact are leveraged. n Provide technical assistance to build capacity of our communi- ty partners, including: securing nonprofit status, media relations, community festival planning, outreach, and funding strategies. n Connect community partners to capacity-building workshops, seminars, and funding opportunities. n Refer pro bono services (strategic planning, digital marketing, etc.) and donor prospects to our community partners. COLLABORATE We believe all of Chicagoland has a stake in ending gun violence and that by working together we can bring out the best of our city and stop the violence. n Pilot Interagency Well- ness Retreat to address trauma experienced by community partners, de- velop recommendations for future programming and create a network of support. Facilitated by world-renowned NATAL (Israeli Center for Trauma and Resilience) at an offsite location, 20 people from nine organizations spent a powerful two days exploring techniques to address trauma and strategies to build resilience. Stay tuned for best practice rec- ommendations and future retreats — we already have a waiting list! n Host inaugural Summer Festival Forum to identity best practices and facilitate collaboration. 10 organizations participated and shared insight to inform future forums and partnerships. n Convene Social Media Collective Impact planning session with six partner organizations. n Partnered with Chicago Survivors to organize the National Gun Violence Victim Vigil attended by over 80 survivor families to raise awareness about the cost of gun violence and provide comfort to families during the difficult holiday season. AMPLIFY We strive to amplify the work and perspectives of those on the frontlines of the violence to in- form solution-driven dialogue and highlight impactful programs. n Facilitate news coverage of several community organiza- tions and make ongoing refer- rals to documentar y and media interests. n Promote community partners events and accomplishments on social media, with targeted e-blasts, and on our website. n Advocate for community organization perspectives in a range of forums, committees and panels to enhance program efficacy and impact. SUPPORT COMMUNITY Strides for Peace knows how important it is to build communi- ty, especially in neighborhoods with high concentrations of poverty and gun violence. n $120,000+ in donations — 80% increase from 2018 total and almost 10 times what we raised just two years ago!! All donations directly benefit nonprof-its who work every day to build a Chicago where all can thrive.

n 1,862 registered runners and walkers — 21% increase over 2018! Registrations help build a platform to bring people together and provide more than 330 free community registrations.

n 49 participating non-profits with 27 hosting onsite booths to raise awareness about their work and recruit volunteers and donors.

n 13 Civic Partners who lent their names, networks and expertise to help elevate the race and demon-strate how Chicago can come together to bring out the best in our city.

n More than 50 nonprofits par-ticipated in training workshops hosted at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago Symphony Center about how to leverage the race, including peer-to-peer fundraising, marketing and event planning.

n 4 incredible performances by artists who shared their gifts to inspire and move us towards a Chicago where all can thrive, free of the fear of gun violence.

We launched the Race Against Gun Violence to create a new platform to support community organizations, focus on what we share in common and celebrate hope.
