PRESENTER: Dr. Carol RazzaDr. Carol L. Razza is a full-time faculty member and formation advisor at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FL. Her degrees include a doctorate in Education in Child and Youth Studies from Nova Southeastern University, an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. She also serves on the Advisory Board, as the Regional Representative for Europe and Asia, for the International Magnificat. She has worked in private practice as a psychotherapist for over twenty-five years. She has written two books, “Sonblock-How Christians Unknowingly Shield Themselves from Grace” and “Parent Me. Please!”, a book helping parents to parent their adolescents. Carol presents at seminars, conferences, workshops, and retreats both nationally and internationally. She lives in the Father’s supernatural joy and encourages others to do the same. Carol’s greatest blessings include her marriage of 50 years to her husband Paul, their wonderful sons and daughters-in-law, and their grandchildren.

Each year St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary sponsors the Deacon Summer Institute, a study week of ongoing formation for permanent deacons. The Institute provides inspiring presentations, intellectual stimulation and time for prayerful recollection – all in a pleasant, peaceful environment. Our expansive grounds, recently landscaped, provide spaces for walking, running or just meditating quietly. The exercise facility is fully equipped. An outdoor 24-yard swimming pool is always open. Each completely renovated bedroom is beautifully appointed, quiet and includes a private bath. Our exceptional meals are prepared by our chef and dedicated staff.

THIS YEAR’S TOPIC This workshop will help to further develop the counseling skills needed to help deacons be more effective in helping those in need. The workshop will introduce participants to various concepts and principles of counseling with a broad spectrum of applications: individual, family, marital, and substance abuse. There will be a focus on both practical and spiritual aspects of acquiring skills through interviewing and learning to listen more deeply to the movement of the Holy Spirit.

SCHEDULE:

Guest rooms will be available after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020. A social with pizza is planned to welcome participants on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The first conference of the program begins Monday, June 1, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. The Deacon Summer Institute closes after lunch on Friday, June 5, 2020.
