Strength and Health Promotion by Consumption of Dry-Fruits

Strength and Health Promotion by Consumption of Dry-Fruits Dry fruits are natural sources of energy. Mineral elements like iron, calcium, copper, phosphorus, etc. are found in it in abundance. Organs l ike heart, brain, eyes, kidneys, muscles, intestines, etc. get energy by these naturally obtained minerals. Rational consumption of dry fruits is v ery beneficial for theones who are weak and feeble and also for those who perform intellectual work and physical labor. 1. Walnuts (Akhrot): Consumption of 10 grams of walnut fried in cows ghee and mixed with misri (sugar-candy) improves the memory-power. It releasesmental fatigue. It is v ery beneficial in curing T.B. if taken after grinding with garlic and frying in cows ghee. Consuming 20 grams of walnut with misri(sugar-candy) and kesar (saffron) mixed in milk is effective in impotency. Massage with walnut oil brings relief in paralysis of mouth. 2. Fig (Anjeer): Figs increase the blood because they contain large quantity of iron. It also purifies the blood. Vitamin-A present in it protects theeye-sight. It has a special capacity of expelling the excreta. Consumption of fig is beneficial in long-standing cough, asthma, T.B., acidity in the blood, oldrheumatism, piles and skin diseases caused due to pitta . Two dry figs dipped in water overnight and taken in the morning, and similarly taken in theevening, the one dipped in the morning, is beneficial in these disorders. 3. Cashew-nuts (Kaju): Cashew-nut is soft, nourishing, wind-relieving, peace giving, increases digestive capacity and stimulates appetite. Cashew-nutconsumed along with honey in the morning relieves weakness of the mind. When taken with raisin ( kishmish ), it increases the blood count. It curesindigestion and swelling of stomach (due to wind) if consumed as chatni (pulp) made by grinding in water. If consumed along with milk, it gives strengthto the heart, brain and circulatory system. 4. Almonds (Badaam): Almond is very effective in improving the memory-power, and eye-sight. It is exce llent for relief from flatulence and increasing theseven vital elements ( sapt-dhatu ) in the body. Five peeled off almonds (after dipping in water ov ernight), if consumed by chewing properly with 2-3 black-pepper or with milk increases the memory-power and eye-sight. American almonds provide no energy as the essence is extracted out of them. Consuming one mamra (local) almond (dipped in water overnight) bychewing thoroughly, giv es the energy equal to ten American almonds. Almonds contain phosphorus in abundant measure, and thus it strengthens the bones. Almond oil, if put in the nostrils, giv es instant energy to the brain, and also relieves headache. Repeating this process continuously for days is v ery beneficial in curing hysteria. A pregnant woman if consumes 10 grams of almond oil with milk and misri (sugar-candy) on reaching the ninth month of pregnancy, then her delivery is rendered smooth. 5. Pi stachio-nut (Pista): It is the best amongst all the dry fruits in providing strength to the intestines. Caution: Intake of dry-fruits should essentially be in reasonable quantity and preferably, especially during winters only, is appropriate.
