Welcome to

Street Learning courses are completely free of charge and are available to allEastbourne and Wealden residents aged 19 years and over. All you have to dois book a place.

Street Learning provides free training in your community at local venues.There are practical courses from cooking and DIY, to those that will help you toget to grips with computers and the internet, writing stories and improvingyour employability skills.

Street Learning is a partnership project set up by Eastbourne Homes Ltd,Places for People, Mears, Sussex Downs College and Wealden District Council.

The Street Learning mission is to reduce social and financial exclusion and improve access to training.

We want to provide courses that you are interested in. So if you have any suggestions, please let us know.

looking for motivation to re-engage

with your writing, or a new writer

starting out but already hitting

obstacles? Maybe you have a writing

project underway you’d like to

devote time to or an idea that you

need to get going on. The aim is

to get you writing and keep you

writing!

Come and learn how to make

delicious, fresh dishes for summer

in a fun and friendly learning

environment. There will be

demonstrations and lots of hands-

on practical skills with the chance to

enjoy the dishes at the end of the

session.

(general info on) Internet Service

Providers (ISPs)

• General tips on managing your

child’s time using the internet

• Use of the Admin main account to

manage access

• IT Skills for Parents and how to get

some (what you need to know)

• What to do if you are worried.

A Guide tothe Internet

Maths toptips and

tricks

A 2 hour computer course for

anyone who has never used a

computer before, is scared of

computers or has had a bad

experience with a computer. Small

friendly groups only. From turning it

on to using the internet and e-mail.

Delivered at your speed.

Total beginners are welcome in

a friendly, informal learning

environment with useful advice and

guidance on everything you want to

learn about the internet and all the

technical language explained. You

will be able to familiarise yourselves

with how to access the internet

including using Google searches,

looking at family history sites, using

e-mails to download attachments

and any other areas that would be

useful.

Do numbers make you freeze? Do

you avoid sums? Find out some quick

tips to make sense of numbers in

everyday life.

This is a short course that will give

you an introduction to Child

Psychology, helping to understand

your child’s behaviour, the way they

think and the things that influence

them. There will be practical tips

and techniques to use in order to

manage behaviour effectively, and

some new ways of dealing with the

more difficult times. Taught in an

informal way, this course will also

give you the opportunity to discuss

aspects of parenting that you may

have struggled with, and share

experiences with other parents.
