STRAWBERY BANKE MUSEUM DONOR PROFILE: THE DOG WALKERS Strawbery Banke received this note from the two- and four-legged visitors – the “dog walkers” -- who gather on Puddle Dock each morning and evening. With the note came a cash donation of $515 toward the Annual Fund. Because the fenced Strawbery Banke campus is one of the few open spaces in Portsmouth where dogs can run free, the dog owners around the museum know they have unleashed access to the lawn aſter the historic houses close at 5 pm and before they open at 10 am. And they appreciate the museum’s willingness to allow them access to the campus. So each morning, the dogs and their people gather on the lawn, greet each other joyfully (the dogs start wagging their tails the moment they catch sight of their friends) and take time to learn what the others have been up to. Some linger for longer conversations one-on-one, which is a perfect definition of building community. So if, like the dog walkers, you’d like to show your appreciation of Strawbery Banke as a place to gather, a place to learn and a place to sustain the community, by making a donation to the museum, it’s easy to do.
