Who is the Course Aimed at?

This qualification is designed to develop the skills of those interested in entering, or who are already in, a customer service position in a hospitality setting.

Key Objectives:

This qualification aims to develop your knowledge of the key areas that are required to promote and support good customer service. It can also contribute to the development of key skills in communication, working with others and problem solving.

Course Outcomes:

On completion of this qualification you will be able to:Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of the provision • of good customer service in the hospitality sector, including hotels, pubs, restaurants, guest houses and fast food outlets. Identify customer and organisational needs and expectations in • respect of hospitality service levels delivered in all businesses. Describe the differences between strong and weak customer care • within the hospitality industry, particularly relating to a professional image, communication skills and complaint handling. Recognise how to present a professional image within the • hospitality sector and identify techniques for communicating positively and effectively with customers, including verbal and non-verbal communications. Identify the techniques used to handle customer complaints • appropriately within the hospitality sector.

Who is the Course Aimed at?

This qualification is aimed at those selling in a hospitality setting and offers an introduction to sales and the basic principles of sales techniques.

Key Objectives:

To be successful in this qualification you must have the knowledge to be able to:

Explain the differences between sales and marketing and how they • are dependent on each other.Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of sales to the • organisation.Understand how to communicate effectively within a sales setting • Identify how consumer behaviour affects the selling process.• Describe a range of basic selling techniques appropriate to a range • of organisations.

Course Content:

The course consists of four sections: The Theory of Selling, Understanding the Customer, Developing Basic Selling Techniques and Effective Communication in Selling Situations.

Course Outcome:

Assessment will determine you have achieved the standard required to obtain an International Introductory Award in Selling. You will undertake a one-hour test that has 40 multiple choice (two option) questions. The test will be marked by City & Guilds and has a pass rate of 80%.

Who is the Course Aimed at?

This qualification will help you recognise when a situation is becoming confrontational and take steps to diffuse and calm the situation.

Key Objectives:

This qualification is designed to provide the basic understanding in dealing effectively with workplace violence.

Course Outcomes:

There is one unit from which you will learn the following three outcomes: Assess and reduce the risk of violence in the work environment.• Identify behaviour that indicates an escalation towards violence • and take appropriate measures to avoid or calm and defuse the situation.Identify post incident support and report the circumstances to • provide information for personal and organisational learning.

Duration:

10 guided learning hours

Progression:

The content of this course is linked to the knowledge and understanding requirements of the SIA specification for Security Guarding and the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Providing Security Services. The qualification also maps the essential knowledge and understanding of units within the Managing Work Place Violence National Occupation Standards (ENTO).

This course is ideal for those who have entered the travel industry or who are considering choosing a career in the industry. In particular as a travel agent, at a tourist information centre or hotel reception as it is vitally important to have a thorough understanding of UK destinations.

Key Objectives:

A practical and work-related course that will give you an insight into the UK and its key destinations. An introduction to the UK helps to improve knowledge of destinations, what facilities they have to attract tourists, how to obtain information about them and how to plan itineraries for specified groups of people.

Course Content:

The course will pay specific attention to: Geographical features of the UK• Tourism destinations of the UK• What attracts tourists to the UK and the facilities and services found •

Within the course you will be identifying the geographical features, investigating destinations and their appeal.
