Strategy For Your Best Life

Greetings one and all! I am hoping you aredoing well and enjoying the unfoldingspringtime season. Once more, I invite one totake a deep breath, pour a cup of coffee orhot tea, and relax.

Wait! I know what you are thinking. This isNOT a thing you wish to think about. Medicalcare choices and end-of-life decisions aredaunting and emotionally charged, to say the

least. However, if we re-frame the dialogue, maybe you'll be more inclined to embrace the planningprocess.

Rather than thinking about various death scenarios, think about the boundless choices for LIFE!Planning for LIFE is an infinitely more appealing and productive strategy. How can you intend toRESIDE before the conclusion of the trail? You need to plan nicely, to ensure that your wishesbecome your reality.

Without exception, the biggest challenge was enticing individuals to attend. Many folks just do notneed to "go there." It is projected that only 25-30% of folks in the USA have completed advancedirectives. There are quite a lot of factors leading to our unwillingness to strategy: lack ofknowledge, insufficient urgency, anxiety about dying and death, suspicion of medical systems,cultural incompatibility, mental distress, and family dissension. However, if we neglect to state ourpreferences associated with medical care and end-of-life care, we relinquish control and oftenunduly weight relatives and buddies. A distressing scenario for all concerned.

Hence, we should Strategy for LIFE. The initial step in the preparation process is to "know thyself."Identify your wishes for LIFE. Take some time to consider your values, priorities, and preferences inlife. Look at the following questions in relationship to advanced age or to a healthcare catastrophe:

Just how do you want to LIVE (define an acceptable quality of LIFE)? For example:

-- Physically active

-- Mentally astute

-- Capable of conveying

For example:

-- Remain at home

-- Be surrounded by friends and family

-- Retain a feeling of control

-- Be treated with dignity and respect

-- Expertise good-handled symptoms and pain

For example:

-- Physical suffering

-- Decline of meaning and purpose

-- Monetary ruin

-- Being a burden

The second part of the planning process is critically important--discussing your Strategy for LIFEwith friends and family. I can't stress this enough! Friends and family should listen to your wishesthat are LIFE. Getting THE conversation with loved ones affords the ability answer questions, toarticulate your tastes, and discuss issues. Furthermore, your readiness to "go there" may encourageothers to follow in your footsteps. A good thing really! Ask us about a few of the fantastic onlineresources to aid in kick starting THE dialogue.

Finally, document your Plan for LIFE. Advance directives consist of a variety of legal formsincluding: CPR directive, living will, Medical Durable Power of Attorney, MOST, POLST, 5 Wishes,etc. It is necessary to ascertain the officially accepted and required documentation as mandated. Ifneeded, seek legal counsel.

In the event you are still reluctant to "go there," let me say yet another thing. Advance directivesAREN'T all about YOU! Investing time plus consideration to make a Plan for LIFE results in one ofthe greatest gifts you could really ever offer your family members and friends. A well-conceived Planfor LIFE will guide and advise those that care at the conclusion of the road for you --mitigatingseveral of the inescapable uncertainty and angst.
