Thank you to the chairperson.Assalamualaikum and a very Good Morning to the honourable judges, teachers and allthe audiences. Today, I want to tell a story and title The Intelligent One.

In a village there lived a cockerel which was strong andfierce. Its name was Si Jalak. There was no other cockerel braveenough to fight against him.

One day, along came a cockerel named Biring. Biring livedat the edge of the village. He was good, hardworking andintelligent.

When Biring learnt of Jalaks boastful characters, he decided

to meet him.

Hi, Si Jalak! he said .You are not the only strong cockerelhere. There is another stronger than you .

What are you saying?There is another stronger than me? asked Si Jalak angrily.

Yes , said Biring.Where is the cockerel now ? asked Si Jalak.

In front of you ! came the answer.

You? said Si Jalak in astonishment.

Yes , responded Biring.

Look at your body. You are lean and small. You dare fightagainst me who is strong and brave? Do you see the spurs on myfeet? Jalak asked haughtily.

Jalak, size is not the true measure of bravery, said Biring.

Jalak of course, challenged Biring to a fight.

Biring accepted the challenge but suggested that they fight in hisvillage.If we fight here and you lose, Im afraid you might be ashamed.All the cockerels here will not fear you any more, explainedBiring.

The next morning, si Jalak headed for the edge of the

village.There, he found Birings hut and hopped into it.Suddenly, a cockerel stood facing him. Si Jalak jumped and so didthe other cockerel.

Angrily, Si jalak pounced in the direction of the cockerel.The other cockerel did the same. Si Jalak retreated a little, and sodid the other. Si Jalak got angrier and angrier because the other cockerel appeared to be making fun of him.

After some time, Si Jalak grew tired. His body sagged and hetoppled over. To his surprise, the other cockerel too collapsed.

Then out came Biring. All this while, he had been insidewatching.

Hi, Si Jalak, the strong, swift and fierce one! he said . Imafraid you were only fighting with your reflection! I had a largemirror placed in front of the door.

Si Jalak felt rather foolish.

You should stop boasting about your strength , advised Biring.

Si Jalak admitted defeat. You are the strongest , he said humblyand walk away feeling truly ashamed.
