STORM LAKE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH EIGHTHEENTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
Sunday, SEPTEMBER 26, 2021 COLOR: Green
PRELUDE Deanna Larson, organist “Lord Jesus Christ, Be Present Now” Bach/Walther “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above” arr. N. Johnson WELCOME & INTROIT Rev. Kiboko I. Kiboko ANNOUNCEMENTS Joan Rude CONGREGATIONAL HYMN Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise UMH # 103
Immortal invisible God only wise
In light inaccessible Hid from our eyes
Most blessed most glorious The Ancient of Days Almighty victorious
Thy great name we praise
Unresting unhasting And silent as light
Nor wanting nor wasting Thou rulest in might
Thy justice like mountains High soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains Of goodness and love
To all life thou givest
To both great and small In all life thou livest The true life of all
We blossom and flourish As leaves on the tree And wither and perish
But naught changeth thee
Thou reignest in glory Thou dwellest in light
Thine angels adore thee All veiling their sight
All laud we would render O help us to see
'Tis only the splendor Of light hideth thee
CALL TO WORSHIP Joan Rude L: Invisible God, sometimes we wonder how we have gotten through some difficult
situations. P: It is because you, God, have been with us, lifting and comforting our spirits.
L: We struggle and worry. P: God’s loving presence sustains and strengthens us. L: Listen for God’s call to you. P: Lord, we are listening and seeking your guidance. AMEN.
OPENING PRAYER Joan Rude Heavenly Father, please be with us this day as we seek your voice and your guid-
ance. Remove the obstacles that block our commitment and help us to truly be your disciples; for we ask this in Christ’s Name. AMEN.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord, we know that you call us to service, but we often feel inadequate. We love to make excuses for not doing something or for doing something only half-heartedly. Remind us again of your loving and guiding presence. Forgive us when we stumble and falter. Turn us again to you, serving joyfully and confidently. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. AMEN.
WORD OF ASSURANCE
Beloved Ones, you are the salty people - those who bring flavor to living. Your spirit of love and confidence gives hope to others. Remember that the Lord is always with you. AMEN.

THE INVITATION TO GIVING OFFERING Deanna Larson, organist “What a Friend We have in Jesus” arr. A. Jordan
Tithing & Offerings / online giving (Offering plates are placed at the back of the sanctuary. Please place your offering therein)
DOXOLOGY No 94
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts! Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts! Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
OFFERTORY PRAYER Joan Rude Loving and Giving God, we can never match your generosity. When we are in need, you are at our side, present to us even in our darkest moments. You rescue us from harm. Make us into a people who celebrate your goodness, drawing others into the celebration of your many bless-ings. Now receive our offerings, even if they are as small as a drink for someone who thirsts. Transform them into the mystery of your reign here and now on earth, in the name of Jesus, your greatest gift, amen. BENEDICTION Rev. Kiboko I. Kiboko A CLOSING PRAYER (BY DON BESIG)
A CLOSING PRAYER
The time has come, O Lord, for us to leave this place;
Guide us and protect us and lead us in thy grace.
Wherever life may take us as we go our sep’rate ways,
Help us share with others the things we’ve shared today.
May the peace of God the Father, and the love of Christ,
His Son, Guide us in the days ahead and strengthen us, each one.
May the blessings of the spirit fill us from within;
God bless us and return us to this fellowship once again. Amen
