Upon arrival we will check into the Bavarian Inn Lodge for a one-night stay. We then experience their world-famous chicken dinner along with entertainment including group singing of the famous German “Schnitzelbank Song”. You will have the rest of the evening to explore the area. B D

Tuesday Oct 13 This morning after an impressive breakfast buffet, we check out and board our coach where we will be met by a local guide who will give us a tour of Frankenmuth. After our tour you will have some free time to shop at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the World’s Largest Christmas Store. Christmas Lane at Bronner’s is illuminated 365 days a year (this year 366) with over 50,000 strings of lights and the Silent Night Memorial Chapel is wonderful any time of the year. We then depart for Mackinaw City with a lunch stop, on own, enroute, to arrive by 3:30 PM to catch the 4:00 PM ferry over to the beautiful Mackinac Island. Upon arrival at the dock we will be met by our horse-drawn taxis (there is no motorized transportation on the island) to take us to the

Grand Hotel. Since 1887 The Grand Hotel has beckoned guests to a bygone era of old-world hospitality and charm. Experience the tradition of Afternoon Tea in the Parlor, dressing up for dinner, nightly dancing to the sounds of the Grand Hotel Orchestra, and sitting in a rocking chair on the world’s longest porch with views of the Straits of Mackinac. Today, guests enjoy modern amenities while the hotel’s original architecture and charm have been tastefully preserved. Every evening at the Grand Hotel is a special occasion. Pull out your favorite dress or suit jacket and tie, stroll along the porch and take a photograph  to remember your trip. Then head inside to the Main Dining Room  for a spectacular dinner that includes an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée and dessert. After dinner, walk down the hall to the Terrace Room and enjoy dancing and live music from the Grand Hotel Orchestra and an after-dinner cocktail or grab a nightcap at the Cupola Bar, located at the top of the hotel. The view of the Mackinac Bridge at night is a sight you won’t soon forget. B D

Wednesday Oct 14 Start your day with a full breakfast in Grand Hotel’s Main Dining Room. After breakfast we board our horse-drawn carriages out front for a guided tour of the island. After the tour you will have the rest of the day free to do as you please. Rent a bicycle and ride around the island, enjoy lunch in town, tour Fort Mackinac, shop for some souvenirs, try out some of the famous Mackinac Island Fudge and buy some to take home. Be sure to be back in time to be dressed for dinner this evening. B D

Thursday Oct 15 Sadly, our time on this beautiful island must come to an end. Enjoy an early breakfast this morning as we must be at the dock in by 8:30am to catch the 9:00am ferry back to the mainland. Our motorcoach and driver will be awaiting us when we arrive at the dock in Mackinaw City. Once we have loaded up, we will depart for Alpen, MI via Heritage Route 23 – Known as the Pathway to the Sunrise Coast. We will travel part of the northern Lake Huron shoreline which offers some of the most spectacular views of Lake Huron, the forests, wetlands, lighthouses, parks, trails, museums, small towns culture and so much more. We will travel through Cheboygan, Presque Isle, home of the oldest surviving lighthouse on the Great Lakes, then arriving in Alpena, on the shores of Thunder Bay. Upon arrival you will have free time for shopping, sightseeing and lunch. This afternoon we will experience the Great Lakes and their rich history … above and below the waves! Explore the shipwrecks of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary on a glass bottom boat. During the 2½- hour cruise you will see magnificently preserved shipwrecks, scenic shorelines and majestic lighthouses. You will learn about the history, legends and the lore of Thunder Bay and many famous shipwrecks as you cruise the shoreline. When we return,

Saturday Oct 17 This morning after breakfast we meet our local guide for a tour of Niagara Falls & Niagara-on-the-Lake.  Learn about the geology and hydrology of the Falls and its colorful history, including the many different and normally unsuccessful methods  daredevils have attempted  to “go over the falls!”  View the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, the Upper

Niagara River and Rapids, Whirlpool, and Gorge.  Hear how modern-day man has attempted to tap into the natural power of the Falls as we pass  the Power Plants, Control Dams, and Water Intakes.  Discover Table Rock Complex, the famous Floral Clock, and the School of Horticulture.   Next, we visit the historic capital of the British colony of Upper Canada since 1792, the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Stop for breathtaking photos of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario and experience the old-world charm of British colonial life in Canada. We end our tour at Niagara-on-the-Lake where you will have time for lunch, on your own, and some shopping before we return to the hotel. You are free the rest of the afternoon. Tonight, you are in for a treat – Oh Canada Eh? Dinner Show: Celebrating Canada for over 26 years! Canada’s longest running dinner musical features over 70 songs; from maritime folk songs to modern classics. With music from artists like Paul Anka, Celine Dion, Shania Twain Bryan Adams and many more. The all-Canadian, family-style meal is served by the performers during the show. At what other show are you served by a singing Mountie!! After the show we return to our hotel, enjoying the beauty of the Falls all lit up at night. B D
