Storage in theEra of SSDFADU Technology is a fabless start up focusing on advancing Flash storage technology. We are dedicated to developing and deploying a new architecture for SSD controllers and storage products that meets the explosively increasing, diverse data demands placed on Enterprise and Hyperscale data centers, and servers, ushering in the era of SSD.

THE ERA OF SSDSSD technology and market applications are at an inflection point that ushers in the era of SSD.

New architectures have removed performance bottlenecks to reach 4GB/s throughput for PCIe Gen 3.1.

As a result SSDs should be poised to expand from a SSD Cache niche to mainstream storage, replacing some DRAM and much of the HDDS in enterprise and hyperscale data centers.

WHAT’S OUR APPROACH?FADU has overcome the limitations of legacy SSD architectures by simplifying the Flash TranslationLayer (FTL), replacing the complex CPU subsystem with a RISC-V core, introducing a Flash AccelerationLayer (FAL) with a new accelerators and schedulers to improve Quality of Service, and eliminating commoncontrols between the host, CPU and DRAM.

The result is an elegant solution that boots performance, lowers power consumption without the need forthrottling by addressing Thermal Design Power (TDP) issues

THE CHALLENGEEnterprise and hyperscale data centers are being pushed by new applications like cloud-based computing, live media streaming, VR/AR, autonomous driving, and the explosion of IoT devices and social media. The challenge for SSD storage to keep up, until now, has been the Flash SSD controller.

Legacy architectures have had gains in performance, but with power increases. Three approaches have been tried to mitigate the power increases: throttling of some of these legacy controllers to manage Thermal Design Power (TDP) has negated their performance gains. Other solutions have tried to de-rate high performance SSDs to manage power. Still other solutions have tried to boost performance of their low power consumer applications. None of these approaches have satisfied the demands of the enterprise and high-performance data center.

FADU OEM SOLUTIONSFadu’s Flash storage solutions are designed the meet the performance and power demands of enterprise and hyperscale data centers.

BRAVO & BRAVO XL SSDs

BRAVO SSDs are high performance devices in E1.S, M.2 and U.2 form factors supporting 3D TLC NAND. BRAVO XL U.2 SSD is a low latency device that usesKioxia 3D XL-FLASHTM NAND memory.

FC3081 NVMe CONTROLLER

The FADU FC3081 NVME 1.3 controller supports PCIe Gen 3 4-lane and 2-lane(dual port) systems and is at the heart ofour BRAVO / BRAVO XL SSD designs.

Key Performance Metrics

» Up to 8TB» 3.3GB/s (E1.S & M.2) /

3.5GB/s (U.2) GB/s Seq Read» 1.8GB/s (E1.S & M.2) /

3.0GB/s (U.2) GB/s Seq Write» 710-730K IOPS 4KB

HOW WE ENGAGEFADU Technology engages with Flash memory OEMs, storage device manufacturers and end customers that want to incorporate our technology into their branded products. We don’t sell finished FADU storage devices — we enable others to usher in the era of SSD with our technology. There are two ways to engage with FADU.

Turnkey

We provide the controller, custom firmware and SSD design. You provide the Flash memory and manufacture your own SSDs.

Private Label

You consign the Flash memory and leave the rest to us. We’ll manufacture your private-branded SSD with FADU technology inside.
