Distribution Matador will distribute a title for two years from the date of publication. The cost of this is included in your initial contract with us. Thereafter, the distribution contract may be renewed for a period of up to two years (fees apply). Approximately two years after publication of a title, we shall contact an author and ask what is required, the options being: 1 Withdrawal of the title from retail distribution. In this case, any excess stock may be returned to the author (carriage at cost is charged) or pulped (pulping costs apply), or a combination of the two, as the author decides. Matador will no longer hold stock of the title and it will no longer be available for sale. 2 Renew the distribution contract for one year at a cost of £40+VAT. In this case, Matador will retain a limited stock (to be determined by the Warehouse Manager at the time, based on historic sales figures; usually between 10 and 50 copies are retained). Again, any excess stock may be returned to the author, pulped, or a combination of both (costs apply as above). 3 Renew the distribution contract for two years at a cost of £70+VAT. In this case, Matador will retain a limited stock (to be determined by the Warehouse Manager at the time, based on historic sales figures; usually between 50 and 100 copies are retained). Again, any excess stock may be returned to the author, pulped, or a combination of both (costs apply as above). 4 Conversion to Print On Demand (POD) distribution (if the title is suitable). A oneoff charge is made for setting up a title for POD distribution (currently £80+VAT for UK distribution, £100+VAT for UK and overseas distribution). If the title is already set up for overseas POD distribution then no charge is applicable to add UK distribution. If a title is set up for POD distribution, then any remaining stock held by Matador will be returned to the author (carriage costs apply) or pulped (no charge). We are unable to retain any stock if a title is available via POD distribution. Following a period of four years after the date of publication of a title, distribution of that title will cease. In this case, any remaining stock may be returned to the author (carriage costs apply) or pulped (free of charge). Storage charges A storage charge is made by us for holding stocks of a title if we hold 300 or more copies of a title in our warehouse and/or with our distributor. No charge is made if we hold fewer copies than 300 copies, as this gives us a working stock with which to supply retailers. Under 300 copies No charge

300–500 copies £20 per month

500‐1000 copies £25 per month

1000‐2000 copies £30 per month

2000‐3000 copies £40 per month

3000‐5000 copies £50 per month

5000‐7000 copies £60 per month

7000‐10,000 copies £70 per month Storage charges are as advised on your Initial Quotation and Final Quotation (page 1). Our warehouse space is limited, so we do not usually store over 1000 copies of a single title without prior agreement. If you have more than one title published with us then storage charges apply for each title. Storage charges are applied each quarter to your online royalty statement, and deducted from royalties owing to you at the end of each quarter. Should there be insufficient royalties owing to you to cover the storage charges, then we shall issue an invoice for the storage charge. An invoice will always be issued should the deficit on your account exceed £100. Should you wish to avoid accumulating storage charges then you may reduce the stock that we hold at any time by contacting us to arrange this. Excess stock may be returned to you at your discretion (carriage costs apply), or we can arrange to reduce stock by recycling should you not wish to incur the cost of having stock returned. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are not incurring storage charges, we can only advise on the storage charge as part of the regular quarterly royalty statement procedure.
