Mindful Meditation Art (Age: 14 & up)For some, traditional meditation can be a challenge. In these ses-sions, we will combine Art with focused breathing, relaxation, and stress-free art activities. This is known as proactive meditation. Students can choose from pre-printed designs, draw their own, or choose a simple drawing task to complete each week. Our weekly practice will include: learning relaxation techniques, focused breath-ing, and brief centering/visualization techniques while you work on the project of your choosing. Private Art Lessons at the Oak View Center (Age: 10 & up)Private Art lessons consist of a total of 6 hours of private instruction per course session spread throughout four 1.5 hour sessions. Enjoy one-on-one instruction with our award winning art instructor in our newly renovated art room. These lessons are geared for the beginner or for those with minimal experience. Relax and work stress free at your own pace. Choose from one of the following sessions: Learn to Draw, Beginning Acrylic Painting, Introduction to Watercolor, Abstract Acrylic Painting, and Easy Portrait Drawing. Canvases are required for the Beginning Acrylic Painting & Abstract Acrylic Painting sessions. Canvases can be purchased at the Oak View front desk during operating hours, or students can bring their own to their lessons. Sessions are individually arranged with the instructor. Participants that are interested in these private art lessons must fill out a request form at the Oak View Center. Year-Round Pickleball Drop in PlayPickleball is designed to be easy to learn and play whether you’re five, eighty-five or somewhere in between. Pickleball is tradition-ally played on a badminton-sized singles court with special Pick-leball paddles, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle. Youth League Mission Statement:“The Oak Lawn Park District is dedicated to providing youth sports leagues that teach all children fundamentals and sportsmanship in a non-competitive, fun environment.”

GSBS Basketball Annual Weeklong Summer Camp (Age: 5-15) GSBS Basketball, with the motto of "Good Students Makes Better Athletes" is celebrating its’ 26th year of providing quality youth bas-ketball programming for boys and girls at the Oak Lawn Park Dis-trict’s Community Pavilion. Since 1994 GSBS Basketball has instruct-ed more than 75,000 young players. Under the direction of George Shimko and his GSBS Staff, each player will be able to develop their individual as well as their team skills in positive and enriching envi-ronment. All players will be separated into groups by age & skill level. Enrollment is limited, so register early. GSBS Basketball uses college and high school coaches and student athletes who work along with George Shimko during this weeklong camp. Coach Your Kids!Volunteer coaches are needed for basketball, hockey, and soccer leagues. Show your support by getting involved in your child’s favorite sport! We offer the National Youth Sport Coaches Association certifica-tion classes free of charge to our volunteer coaches. Registration for our outdoor soccer program has been on-going since April.
