Meal Kit Company, Gobble, Experiences Growth in Stockton
In 2016, meal-kit company Gobble opened its Stocktondistribution facility to better serve its West Coast customers.The San Francisco-based company is a meal prep companythat delivers a weekly box of freshly prepped dinner kitsdesigned to be table ready in 15 minutes, usually with justone pan. Gobble's sous chefs do the prep work socustomers spend less time in the kitchen and more timewith family. Gobble offers a weekly menu that spans a varietyof cuisines and dietary needs that is delivered right to thecustomers' doorstep.
With only one distribution center on the West Coast and oneon the East Coast, Stockton's ideal location allowed Gobbleto expand its operations and scale the business quicklyacross the West Coast. The state-of-the-art Stockton facilityincludes an industrial kitchen area to provide sous chefsadequate prep space, a large kitting and fulfillment area tohandle deliveries, and warehouse space. Stockton'sproximity to the Bay Area also allows Gobble employees toremain close to business operations with the executive chefand culinary R&D team in Cupertino and customer serviceteam in Palo Alto.
Since its opening in 2016, Gobble's Stockton facility hasexperienced significant growth from a small team of only 25employees to over 130. Gobble has been able find ahardworking and dedicated workforce within the localcommunity and supportive partners in the City of Stocktonand San Joaquin County WorkNet.

STOCKTON OPPORTUNITY ZONES PORTAL
The City of Stockton launched its Opportunity Zones(OZ) Portal, www.OpZonesStockton.com, providingdetailed demographic information on the city's 19designated census tracts; the characteristics, anchorinstitutions, and competitive advantages for eachregion they are located in; and available propertieslocated within each OZ.
Stockton is one of five cities in the entire United Statesto develop an Opportunity Zones Prospectus, which isan investment guide that includes community data,local infrastructure investments, business anddevelopment assistance programs, and availablecatalytic investment opportunities located in theapproved opportunity zones. Stockton's OZ Prospectusis available for viewing on the City's OZ portal.
Note: The City of Stockton received approval for 19 opportunity zones. Private investment(s) made in a designated OZthrough a qualified opportunity fund would be susceptible to capital gains tax deferments, reductions or exemptionsdepending on the length of time the investment is held. EDUCATION TO CAREER
Stockton is home to a number of career academies that are committed to preparing and connectingstudents with their future careers. San Joaquin Delta College is dedicated to ensuring that studentsare aware of the various career opportunities in the trades and that local employers are also able tofind well-trained and well-prepared prospective employees. HIRE STOCKTON GRANT PROGRAM
The City of Stockton's Hire Stockton GrantProgram is a new workforce grant programdesigned to encourage existing businesses tohire and train employees from designatedlocal, economically distressed census tracts inorder to stimulate economic growth and prosperitythroughout the community.
After an eligible employee has been hired, trainedand employed for at least 12 months, grant fundsranging from $5,000 to $10,000 are awarded on areimbursement basis to the employer, so long asthe following criteria are met:
Hire, train, and retain new employee(s) fora minimum of 52 consecutive weeks i.e., one year;New employee(s) must reside in one of the designated census tracts;Employer must pay hourly wages of $20 or higher;Employee(s) must be permanent, full-time, and paid with benefit packages;Employee(s) must be training for new technological, industrial skills, or manufacturingprocesses.
