2.1 AirportsStillwater(SWO)hastwicedailyservicebyAmericanAirlines.OklahomaCity(OKC)andTulsa(TUL)areservicedbyallmajorcarriersandarelocatedapproximately1hourawaybycar(inthecaseofTulsa,atollroad).

2.2 PlacestoStayThere aremany hotels in Stillwater.Here are some of the nicer options located close tocampus.TherearealsobrandnewLaQuinta andHolidayInnExpresson thewestsideoftown (about 2miles from campus); see their respectiveweb-sites for details.While thelatterarenewer, theyarealsomoreremote.SuggestedhotelsclosertoStillwater includetheAtherton andCimarron. 2.3 WeatherAugust is the hottest month of the year in Oklahoma.While August is entering the dryportionofsummer,severestormsarenotuncommonthroughouttheentiremonth,sobeprepared for severeweather. Tornadoshaveoccurred in everymonthof the year in thestate.

2.4 ThingstoDoStillwater is a college town, and as such features a variety of college related activities.Stillwater houses the NationalWrestling Hall of Fame. The Botanic Garden and BoomerLakebothoffernicenaturewalks.MuseumsincludetheGardinerArtGalleryandtheOSUMuseumofArt(locatedinthePostalPlazadowntown).

NightlifeincludestheStriponWashington,whichhousesthecollegebars,includingWilliesandlotsofothersIknownothingabout,thoughengineersseemtogravitatetoStonewall(aka theWall) near Joe’s. Seasoned adultswill prefer TownHall’s, Gatsby’s or Zanotti’s,however.IronMonkisourlocalbrewery.

In OKC, I suggest Pops, Science Museum Oklahoma, the Cowboy and Western HeritageMuseum,the99sMuseumofWomenPilots,FredJonesMuseumofArt,andtheOKCMOA.BricktownandthePaseoaretheplacestobe.UniqueoptionsincludetheAmericanBanjoMuseum(SteveMartin’sbanjoisthere)andtheAmericanPigeonMuseum.

2.5 PlacestoEatPopular restaurants include Stillwater landmarksHideaway Pizza and Eskimo Joe’s. Theformerwas selected as thebest pizza inOklahomaby theFoodNetwork.TheThaiCafé,Café88,GoldenDragon,andMainstreetNoodlesalloffergoodselectionsofAsianfare.Thebest BBQ is arguablyBadBrad’s but opinions vary.Starbucks is located onHall of FamenearMainSt.andisashortdriveorwalkfromtheCimarronHotel.
