Class: Smile Group Teacher: Mrs Buckley/ Mrs Davies/ Miss McPartlin Date: Thursday, 14th May 2020
Check-in Message:
Good Morning Smile Group. How are you today? I hope you enjoyed the number work you started yesterday for National Numeracy Day. I know that I did.Today is Thursday so we are going to use our senses to think about what kind of day it is. Shut your eyes and listen. I wonder what you can hear. Can you hear many people today? Do they sound happy, sad, angry or something else? How about vehicles? Are they cars, vans, lorries or motorbikes? Do you hear any animals or birds? As I am writing this there are some very noisy birds outside my window. I love the sound they make.Open your eyes and look outside. I wonder if you hear anything that is interesting or unusual. Do you see any of the things you heard? I see the noisy birds. They are tiny but they do have a loud voice! Can you see anything that is growing? We will be doing PE with Joe Wicks this afternoon so try to make sure you are wearing comfortable clothes. It is time to do some school work now so find somewhere that you can sit and learn. Remember that it is a good idea to sit at a table if you can.

Check in I understand that my feelings and reactions can change depending upon what is happening within and around me.I can talk about how I am feeling.
Sit down comfortably with the item you use for check-in today. Remember that when we are doing check in there is a time to talk and a time to listen. The listener must look at the person who is speaking.Bruce has sent us another message today.
Use the item that you have chosen.
Remember though, only the person who is holding the item is able to speak during check in.

Good morning Smile Group. I wonder if you have you been using your senses today. Do you know that dogs are particularly good at using their sense of smell. How are you feeling today?

Literacy I can order the alphabet
I can read and make some tricky words. I understand that they must be learned by sight as I cannot sound them out.
Warm UpLay out your magnetic letters carefully. In class we have them in the order of the alphabet. Sing the song as you lay them out. Now, starting with ‘a’ point to each letter in turn and say the sound. I wonder if you know its name too.As with yesterday you will need an adult to help you with this task: Read the tricky words on the Tricky Words Wall in your home-learning pack. You may not be able to read them all but try your best to go as far as you can. Now, with adult support try to learn one, two or three more. Repetition will help with this.
Next an adult will say a tricky word that you have recognized and you must use your magnetic

I wonder how many tricky words you can read and write now. Can you challenge yourself to learn some new ones today?
letters to make the word. How did you do? When you are challenged by a word the adult should say the sounds then the word, for example, “w – a – s- says was”
How many tricky words can you read and make now? Is it the same or more than yesterday? Are you proud?
Challenge: This week how many new tricky words can you read and make? I’m sure you have done a great job. Well done. MainLook again at the interesting picture of people enjoying the sunshine in a park that you talked about yesterday.

It will take practice to learn new tricky words so please do not worry if you cannot do them by yourself yet. Just try again tomorrow!
I can take information from a picture.I can talk in sentences about a picture.
write one or more sentences about the picture. I have put a word bank next to the picture in case you need words that you cannot sound out by yourself.*If you can, remember to use your Tricky Words Wall to make your sentences more varied. *Some children will need support to complete this task and if this is the case please talk through each step, asking them the questions I have written in colour. Before you start writing think about how many words your sentence has, count them on your fingers.
Example:My sentence is “The man has a kite.”So, for my sentence:
St.Francis’ Primary School Daily Learning Plan
The first word is The, now can you write it.The second word is man, remember your finger space then write it.The third word is has, remember your finger space then write it.The fourth word is a,remember your finger space then write it.The final word is kite.So write the final word then put a full-stop. Remember that a full stop is a dot, not a football!!Now, put your pointing finger under the first word and read it. Moving your finger along the sentence read the whole sentence.Would you like to write another one?
Well done for trying hard. Are you pleased with what you have

done?
* Some children will be able to independently write more sentences about picture. Others will require support to write single words of things they see in the picture. Please use your judgement as to which task is appropriate for your child. That is what we would do in class.
Story Time and SnackToday you can choose to listen to one on the stories on BBCBitesize, or one of the teacher-recorded stories on our web or twitter page. There are new ones every day.You may choose another book to read from your collection at home.

Numeracy We are learning to represent numbers using our fingers.
Warm UpWatch ‘Bunny Ears Warm Up 3’ on school website.
Tell your child to make a number using their fingers and hold their fingers on either side of their head representing a bunny. Ask your child to show the number in another way. It’s good to consider how many different ways the child can represent one number, for example, 8 can be shown as 5 fingers on one hand and 3 fingers on the other, or as 4 fingers on one hand and 4 fingers on the other.
Practice the numbers 0-10 first and see how you get on.
*Progress to numbers 11-20 for more challenge.
*If you feel that your child is finding this activity difficult, demonstrate the
