Class: Primary 2 Teacher: Mrs Erika Cassar Check-in Message: Tuesday 12th January 2021 Happy Tuesday Primary 2 How are you all doing? I hope you managed to follow the daily plan yesterday. It doesn’t matter if sometimes you aren’t able to do all the tasks, you might be able to do them when you have some free time later on during the week. Are you ready for another day of home learning? Let’s go! Have you said good morning to your family? How’s the weather looking from your window? And the most important question; how are you feeling? If you would like to share with me and your friends how you are feeling, you may do so on: https://padlet.com/erikacassar06/47kkc03kkyfe76cl Well done to you for posting on yesterday’s padlet. I loved seeing your responses. Now that it’s time to start our lessons, we will revise some Read Write Inc tasks and then move on to Numeracy where we will be practising the number of the day. There’s also a craft lesson today, as we usually do on a Tuesday! Excited to see your final pieces Have a lovely day boys and girls! St.Francis’ Primary School Daily Learning Plan

Class: Primary 2 Teacher: Mrs Erika Cassar

Check-in Message: Tuesday 12th January 2021

Happy Tuesday Primary 2 How are you all doing?

Excited to see your final pieces

Have a lovely day boys and girls!

LI: I am able to practise and memorise the spelling of a list of words.

Ms Sealy’s Group can look at the ASFL section for their Literacy lesson. https://stfrancisrcprimary.wordpress.com/asfl/

Introduction:

Start off by revising the different sounds as we do in class. Open the Spelling Introduction powerpoint (in the resource section under Primary 2 on the school website) and uncover each square. Under each square hides a letter. For each letter, say its sound, 3 times just like we do in class.

· Can you think of a word that starts with this sound?

· Can you think of a word that starts with this sound and include it in a sentence?

(You may do these challenges for some of the letters)

Now you will be given a list of words to practise, according to your group colour in class. These are words that you have already come across in class.

Red group:

1. hen

2. red

3. fox

4. hat

5. sun

6. man

LI: I can work out sums related to one particular number

Practise working around with your numbers following the Number of the Day (A) activity sheet. The number of the day is:

· 7

· 27

· 67

PS. This activity has nothing to do with the number of the week posted on Twitter. We will work on that later on this week.

As you know, snow is very popular in January and has snowed quite a bit this past month actually! I know lots of you love to make a snowman outside when it does, so here is an activity you can do at home, without any snow! Would love to see some of you share your final creations on Twitter

Instructions:

1. Prepare 3-5 circles for the snowman’s mouth, using the black paper/card. The size of these circles depends on the size of your zipper bag. Stick these on the bag with your glue, in the same way as the picture.

2. Prepare a triange for the snowman’s nose, using the orange paper/card. Stick this on the bag with your glue, in the same way as the picture.

3. Stick your google eyes on the bag using your glue.

4. Fill up your zipper bag with shaving foam and zip shut.

· Does your snowman friend have a name?

· Can you give him a hat and/or scarf?

LI: I am able to read on my own

Introduction:

Find a space you are comfortable in and pick a book to read. Make sure it is not too easy or too difficult for you. The book may be from your collection at home or else online.

1. Sit down and look at the cover of your book.

· What do you think about it?

· How does it make you feel about the book?

· Can you guess what will happen?

2. Start reading the book. Take your time and remember how we break down the words in class and split them into smaller bits.

3. Re-read the book again and ask somebody in your house to listen to you read. Check for any mistakes.

4. Tell a friend or another relative about the story.

· Did you like it?

· Would you read it again?

· How did it make you feel?

· Was it hard/easy/okay to read?
