The Isle of Wight has the second worst youth unemployment in the
South East of England. With Government cuts to the Prisons Service
and the Isle of Wight Council and the closure of local firms, our
Conservative MP is presiding over a Jobs Crisis that is making the
Cost of Living Crisis even worse. LABOUR WILL:- - Set up a British
Investment Bank to provide for key infrastructure and provide the
funds that small and medium sized firms need to expand. Having
derailed the economy by speculating abroad, the commercial banks
have failed to lend to British firms. - Provide a guaranteed job
for every young person under 25 who has been out of work for a year
and include training relevant to the job. - Pressure large firms to
pay a Living Wage, higher than the Minimum Wage, and make this a
factor in all Government Contracts A dynamic economy with more
people in work and at a decent wage will provide the income to
improve our local services
