Stereotyping is about labelling groups as if they are all the same: Girls are more academic, all Asians own convenience stores, policemen are lazy etc.

Mostly negative although not intentional.

Advantage: Respond to situations that are similar to ones we have faced before, example being warring of a gang at night when you are alone.

Disadvantage: Unfair to generalise. Should treat all individuals as unique.
