After this BIM modelers are required to open the central file and then put tick marks on the check box residing close to ‘Audit’ and ‘Detach from Central’ for selecting them. In the dialog box from where Revit users have selected ‘Audit’ and ‘Detach from Central’ there is one more option titled as ‘Create New Local’ but users should not select it. Steps taken by Revit users for saving an architectural model

Once the design development team involved in architectural modeling process completes the architectural model they should then save it so that it can be used by design and construction professionals for the desired purpose. For saving the model users are required to follow certain crucial steps which are described below.

Step by step method of saving an architectural model

The first step in this process is to ask the team members of the entire architectural design team to Synchronize the local files on which they are working independently to central and then turn off the file.

If for instance ‘Create New Local’ is selected by mistake users should make it sure that they uncheck it before going further in the process.

After selecting the required options users are required to click ‘Open’ which opens a dialog box in the screen.

Within this dialog box which is titled as ‘Detach Model from Central’ two important options are contained from which users have to select one.

The options contained in the dialog box are Detach and Preserve worksets and Detach and discard worksets, but users should only select Detach and Preserve worksets.

Now comes the time of purging unused objects for which users are requested to approach ‘Manage Tab’ which resides under settings panel and then select ‘Purge Unused’ option within it.

After removing unwanted objects users are now required to eradicate unwanted links for which they should be selecting ‘Manage Links’ option within Manage tab.

One both unused objects and unnecessary links are removed the architectural model is ready to be saved.

For saving the architectural model users are suggested to click ‘Save As’ after which they should be selecting Project. After selecting project they are required to specify ‘Make this a Central File’ and ‘Compact file’ options that are contained under ‘File Save Option dialog box.’

Before the file is finally saved Revit users are suggested to give it a name.
