Afro-Cuban All Stars Cuba, si! Enjoy some of the spirit of Cuba without leaving our shores when Juan de Marcos and hisAfro-Cuban All Stars visit the area. This unique orchestra is devoted to promoting the rich heritageof Cuban music. Guided by Buena Vista Social Club founder and bandleader de Marcos, theensemble captures the undeniable spirit of Afro-Cuban music with the potent mix of drivingpercussion, a powerhouse horn section, with piano, bass, tres, guitar, and incomparable vocals.Each performance is unique and dynamic. The band’s current line-up consists of the finest Cubanexpatriate musicians in the world today, all alumni of Cuba’s greatest bands. Hair The sun is still shining on Hair, now being presented by Nassau Community College’s Departmentof Theatre and Dance. The hippie musical, which put rock music and the culture that went with iton stage, still resonates today. With a score including enduring musical numbers like “Let the SunShine In,” “Aquarius,” “Hair,” and “Good Morning Starshine,” Hair depicts the birth of a culturalmovement in the ‘60s as told by East Village hippies who celebrate peace and love in the shadow ofthe Vietnam War. It’s old-school ‘60s-style grooviness that Millenials as well as baby boomers canenjoy. Friday and Saturday, April 29-30, 8 p.m.; Sunday, May 1, 2 p.m.; also Wednesday through Saturday,May 4-7, 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 8, 2 p.m. $18, $12 seniors. Camelot Chris and Kim Dufrenoy, Long Island’s popular acting couple and a fixture on the regional theaterscene, star in Plaza Theatrical Productions’ version of the iconic musical. This beloved Tony Award-winning musical takes us back to the age of chivalry and the tumultuous love triangle between KingArthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot. A doomed romance, a yearning for a once and futurebetter world, and magical music define a show for the ages and the entire family.
